Note: This article is based on the work of Darius Foroux, in which he tells us about his experience in determining his career path and the general skills he worked on improving during that time.
Most of us answer that we do not know, and this is completely normal. However, we think that it is the worst thing in life, and we succumb to panic attacks and frighten. So let's be honest: it happens to everyone, especially when you receive the news of an old college friend getting married or a co-worker being promoted even though you both started working for the company simultaneously.
It is our moments of weakness when we begin to question our lives, and my wrong thinking once led me to believe that I must precisely determine what I want to do with my life and the truth is that no one knows what he should do with their life.
Embrace the feeling of doubt
| The fact that you haven't automatically set a direction in life makes your first goal to discover where you want to go. |
You may die tomorrow, lose your money in the stock market, or your house may burn down. It may not have been right to tell you these things, but we must realize that we do not have answers to most questions in life, and you cannot know about the future of your health or the fate of the stock market or if it is your business will continue to thrive, no one knows.
Herein lies the beauty of life. Eleanor Roosevelt, the wife of the former President of the United States of America, expressed it in the best way. She said: "If life were expected and read, it would have lost its pleasure and meaning."
Some people ask me why I read books so much if it is impossible for me to apply everything I learn. they are right that I really cannot apply everything, but the reason I read and know about different types of topics is that I may need a certain piece of information at some time later in my life, then I might be able to change the course of my life completely.
I'll give you an example. In 2015, after my friends and mentors suggested that I share my ideas about productivity, life, and the business world with others, I started to seriously think about it. There are different ways to share knowledge; You can train groups, conduct seminars, or give people one-on-one coaching. You can also create content on YouTube or give talks at conferences. The possibilities are endless.
Because I fell in love with writing, in addition to reading a lot about it, I decided to start writing my thoughts. That was the simplest way to get started. I had already learned how to create websites, so it was easy for me to start creating a website online. I actually set it up in one day, then I started writing every day for a whole month, and the outcome of this month was a book and a set of articles.

Set your direction and path instead of your final goal and destination
I didn't realize when I read about writing and building websites many years ago that I would use this knowledge to build my blog. In fact, I didn't know what I wanted at the time, I just knew what path I wanted to pursue, I wanted to make a contribution and do something that I enjoy.
So it is not important to know exactly what you want to do with your life. People change, and the economy changes. Thus, it is not logical to claim that you know what you want, the only thing we need is to sense our direction, and visualize the path we would like to seek.
You do not have to know your exact destination, and if you often read about the experiences of people who claim that they have always known what they want, they only constitute a small part, and I personally have not met any of these people. Most of us do not have this conviction from the beginning, but it crystallizes over time.
The fact that you did not automatically determine a direction in life makes your first goal to discover where you would like to go.
This is what author and CEO Jay Abraham advises in his book Getting Everything You Can Out of All You've Got: There is nothing crueler than seeing an old person go back in time and feel remorse because they sought the path of the wrong goal.
You may notice that he did not say that you should know exactly what you want; Rather, you have to know where you are heading in general, and although this is hard to imagine, it is the only useful answer I have found in life.

Learn general skills
While you are analyzing and figuring things out, don't waste your time watching TV, drinking, or overeating. Rather, he tried to invest it in learning general skills.
If you need some inspiration, check out these skills that I personally work on constantly improving:
1. Self-discipline
Learn to ignore the negative inner voice, get out of bed, go to the gym, and don't listen to the inner voice saying, "I don't want to."
2. Personal Effectiveness
Learn to achieve the best results possible with your waking hours, and do as efficiently as possible.
3. Communication
We think we are good at communicating. In reality, however, we are failures. Communication is based on art and science, and our ability to communicate with others depends on it.
4. Negotiation
You are negotiating all the time with your partner, children, teachers, friends, co-workers, managers, etc. Therefore, you have to learn how to satisfy all parties.
5. Persuasion
Learn to get what you want in an ethical way.
6. Physical strength and endurance
Increasing your strength is a skill, and you've got to do your share of the work, and that's something everyone should do.
7. Flexibility
Sitting all day behind your computer screen or in your car makes your muscles stiff. Hence, you must do stretching exercises to overcome the disadvantages of working in the office.
In conclusion
These skills are enough to occupy you for the rest of your life if you do them right. So choose a skill that excites you and master it, then choose again and repeat the process, and so on, you will know what you want very soon, and if you do not know, then the world is not over, and you still have a lot to learn.
