But the most important thing is your interest in searching for everything that develops yourself and the various aspects of your life and then striving to achieve the best of everything to reach the best image of yourself because you deserve that, and so does everyone.

But this is not done by hating your life or being discontented with what you have by being frustrated and hopeless and believing that you cannot do what you want or by comparing yourself to others.

This is because all this leads to self-destruction, and if you feel that you cannot reach your desired goals or that you do not deserve it, then you must change something important, which is your self-entitlement, so what is self-entitlement and how can we improve it? This is what we will learn about in this article.

The definition of self-entitlement

It is the feeling inside a person that they deserve the best of everything. i.e., the best home, study, best specialization, getting the best job, buying the best car, and the best way of dealing with others. This feeling pushes the individual to work and strive for development and progress constantly as self-entitlement overcomes the various feelings of frustration, despair, and failure as well that prevent a person from developing themself.

The child is born feeling that they deserve to get what they want and at the time they want, and this can be seen through their behavior, for example, they want to eat candy in the amount they want, and they feel that they deserve to get various toys, even the toys of their friends. So the parents begin to discipline this instinct in the child.

Why does the feeling of self-entitlement decrease in humans?

We all have a high self-worth from the beginning of our life, and this means that it will decrease later as a result of bad experiences that change a person’s view of life and themself as well or as a result of their suffering from a specific trauma or a feeling of guilt or shame for a certain period of their life, which made anger grow inside them and hate for themself as well.

For example, a person's suffering from bullying from others makes them feel inferior, or for example, if a person causes sadness to someone without even intending it, then they will believe that they do not deserve good things in life as a result of their low self-esteem; So, in short, we can say that we are the product of our past experiences, good or bad.

How to improve self-entitlement?

To live a beautiful life and succeed in its various aspects and be able to achieve your various goals, You must follow the following steps to raise your self-worth and self-confidence as well:

1. Acknowledge that you have feelings of unworthiness

Acknowledging feelings is very necessary, even negative ones. This is because acknowledging a feeling does not mean surrendering to it. Rather, it is the right way to overcome it and overpower it, and then your confession that you are not worthy is very necessary to overcome this feeling.

2. Discover the reasons why you feel unworthy

Discovering the reasons behind these feelings may take a relatively long time, as we often do not realize what brought us to the state we are in. Therefore, you have to sit with yourself and remember all the details of your life, both small and large. This is because everything a person goes through impacts their later life.

For example, you may realize that the reason you feel unworthy is that you failed an emotional experience, or you failed a task at work, or you don't have money, or you think that someone is better than you because they studied at a famous university.

On the contrary, your feeling of unworthiness may be the result of your repeated successes; which made some people jealous of you and tried to discourage and belittle you so that you would not advance further. Therefore, this step is one of the most important steps in raising self-worth, and it is the big step in the way of improving self-confidence.

3. Break free from unrealistic expectations

Sometimes a person is held, since childhood, within imaginary expectations by their family, teachers at school, or even the society in which they live, and in order for them to be able to improve their self-worth, it is necessary to get rid of this pressure that causes them sadness and self-hatred later as a result of the disappointment of others if they do not achieve what is expected of them.

For example, your father may want you to be like his friend's son. He repeats phrases like, "Look, he's better than you," or "Why can't you succeed like him?" which makes you feel a lot of pressure; This is because you may fail to achieve this, and feel that you do not deserve good things.

Because you disappointed your father, you do not have to seek and strive to achieve their dreams; Rather, you have to realize what you want without focusing on people's perception of you. This is because society does not take into account the individual differences that exist between people.

4. Focus on your strengths

Each person is distinguished from the others by specific points, and it is the responsibility of each of us to discover the talent with which God distinguished us from others. This is because it is one of their strengths, which makes them overcome the feeling of unworthiness and restore their self-confidence if it is weak.

So all you have to do is not think that you are inferior to others; Rather, remember your talent, focus on it well, try to develop it, and be proud of it to restore your balance because others cannot appreciate it if you do not appreciate it.

5. Avoid comparing yourself to others

This problem has increased in our current time due to humans being affected by what they see on social media platforms. Which made them strive to be like others; however, you must not always believe what you see, everyone has a bad side in their life.

For example, it is not enough to see pictures of someone during their tourist trip to think that they are the happiest person in life; they may suffer from many problems in their life, and they went out on a trip so that they can relieve the psychological pressure on them, and people who have achieved important achievements in their lives that you cannot compare yourself to them now; Rather, you have to see how much they suffered and worked hard to reach their current place. No successful person was created; Rather, they all worked hard and overcame many obstacles and problems before success.

6. Do not strive for perfection

Perfection is an illusion in which the media or social networking sites focus on increasing psychological pressure, but in reality, no person is ever perfect, no matter how much you see of their achievements.

7. Record achievements

We all go through moments when our self-confidence decreases and we feel that we cannot move forward or continue with our lives because we have lost energy; Therefore, writing down achievements is very important to restore self-confidence, even if they are very simple achievements. You can do this by allocating several minutes a day and writing down your achievements in your small notebook.

For example: “I was able to lose 1 kilogram in a few days, or I was able to stay without smoking today, or I started an English course.” If you think these are silly things, you are wrong. This is because these details can raise your happiness hormones when you are worried or sad.

8. Take good care of yourself

Our bodies are our responsibility from God Almighty. Therefore, taking care of the body is very necessary and has a great impact on our mental health. Because that clearly raises our sense of entitlement, and you should not allocate much time to that.

Rather, you can follow a healthy, moderate, and easy-to-implement system in addition to drinking water in sufficient quantities and exercising regularly, and it does not have to be intense.

Rather, it can suffice several times a week; The goal of sports is not only to obtain a perfect body; Rather, in order to increase the body's resistance to diseases and maintain the health of the various organs of the body.

9. Choose clothes

You do not necessarily have to follow fashion as some of us think and strive to wear clothes that others like for fear of negative criticism.

What is important is to wear clothes that you like and colors that you like so that this reflects positively on yourself without caring about the criticism directed at you. This helps to improve your self-confidence and significantly raise your sense of entitlement.

10. Control yourself

A critical voice always emanates from within us that tells us disturbing and frustrating thoughts and reminds us of all the moments of failure that we went through in previous experiences, and this may prevent us from progressing and increase our self-hatred and blame; This is because we could not succeed previously; We believe that we will not be able to succeed again either; Therefore, there is no need to try or pursue dreams, because we do not deserve them.

Remember that this voice must be controlled immediately and stopped by not paying any attention and mocking it; this is because you can always try again, however many times you fail.

11. Have a positive outlook on life

Appreciate all the good things in your life and look at the events in a positive way, and if you encounter a problem, do not doubt and wait for someone to solve it. Rather, you have to search for the solution that makes you happy, of course, without causing grief to others or destroying their lives.

Always remember to repeat positive phrases; For example, always repeat words such as: "I can do it," or "I can," or "I am successful," and talk to yourself kindly even when you make a mistake; No one is ever infallible, and always imagine your beautiful feeling when you achieve your desired goals, but make sure that you also think about the obstacles that you will face while walking towards your goals so that your fantasies are more balanced; Don't get frustrated when faced with it and hold back from pursuing goals.

In conclusion

Always respect yourself because you deserve it and because you are the only one capable of increasing or decreasing the respect of others for you and do not allow anyone, whatever their position is in your life, to destroy you, and most importantly, do not destroy yourself, and remember that you can start again and work to raise your self-worth by following the points mentioned above; They are easy to apply and with time will become a daily routine.
