Note: This article is by Erin Falconer, who shares 4 facts that prove failure doesn't exist.
One of the late author Wayne Dyer's quotes changed my perspective and helped me get back on track during the worst time of my life. Instead, it became my go-to quotation for any time I felt inadequate. "There is no failure; the only thing that occurs is not reaching the intended outcome," he declared.
I'm not sure how this quote specifically altered my life in a matter of seconds, but it did. After reading it, I realised I had persuaded myself that I was a born failure. I also learned that my sense of failure was a product of the deep shame I felt about my divorce, the sadness I felt about being away from my kids, and the embarrassment I felt about losing everything I owned.
After accepting the adage "there is no failure," I understood that, in the end, I could alter my situation and my life. That started a 25-year journey of personal development and transformation that has finally brought me to my true self, and this point in my life is when I can genuinely say that I am happier than before. I had a splendid 14-year marriage to the perfect person, during which time I developed my writing and conversational skills.
I became an author, motivational speaker, and business owner. Above all, though, my journey taught me what my actual life goal is, and I use my books, seminars, and lectures to help others learn how to live exceptional lives.
These are the top 4 things I've learned on my path to self-discovery, and I hope they will encourage and inspire you to overcome whatever challenges you may encounter in life.
Four teachings help you realise that failure is an illusion
1. Failure is not a trait of you; it is just a mistake you make
The truth is that sometimes we will not achieve the desired result, but that does not mean that we are failures. I fooled myself over all the mistakes I made in life, believing that those mistakes were what defined me as a failure.
2. Accept the fact that you are a wonderful human being with unlimited potential
Although you may make mistakes, you are not the “mistake” itself, so learn to forgive yourself for the mistakes you may have made and to love and accept yourself as you are.
3. Express gratitude daily
Take the time each day to write down five things you are grateful to have in your life. I promise that your life will improve if you follow this for 21 days in a row.
4. Treat life honestly, but not seriously
Spend a little time each day laughing and appreciating the little things in life. Avoid succumbing to the negativity perpetuated by the media; there are plenty of reasons to be optimistic about your life and the world. It is your responsibility to identify these reasons.
In conclusion
I sincerely hope you will implement these four lessons in your daily life. If you decide to follow them, you must be able to overcome all obstacles in your life because, as they say, "There is no failure." What occurs is that the intended outcome is not attained. “Even though you might not succeed in reaching your goal, you still have the resolve to try again with a different objective.
