Even if you'll have a great time, it's not the best way to deal with failure, and it's naïve to think your life would go smoothly without making any mistakes. Failure does not define you; rather, it is how you respond to it that does.

Steps to overcoming failure

1. Understand the reason

You need to understand exactly why you made that mistake before you are ready to move forward and learn from it. Abandoning your ego and analyzing the situation from an external perspective are essential parts of this process.

Be honest with yourself and leave no room for excuses. Have you tried your best? Have you used all the resources available to you? Can you confidently say to yourself that your results reflect your work ethic? These are the questions you should focus on.

If you can't understand your mistakes, you won't move forward. According to writer J.K. Rowling, “It is impossible to live without failing at something, unless you live so cautiously that you might as well not have lived at all—in which case, you fail by default.”

2. Ask friends for help

Friends shouldn't be critical of your poor decisions. When you need it, they should lend a hand, but more significantly, they ought to tell you what you must hear rather than what you want to hea

Some people like to deal with setbacks themselves. This may work for some, but getting second opinions from people you can trust is helpful. You still rely on your car's mirrors when you're driving to see what your limited vision prevents you from seeing.

So, think of your friends as mirrors that reflect back to you the challenges you can't see for yourself. They would be pleased to help you if you were in need, just as you had done for them in the past. Do not hesitate to seek them for assistance.

Overcoming Failure

3. Accept constructive feedback openly

Hearing harsh criticism for your work may be demotivating, even upsetting, but what's the point if you're offended by the advice? It takes more than just friends' encouragement to succeed; you also need to own up to your mistakes and understand why you failed in the first place.

Even if your project succeeds, you must continually be willing to accept constructive criticism and make an effort to better yourself. This entails being open to criticism.

Although difficult and requires some mental practice, it will be worthwhile in the end. Never be afraid to ask for honest feedback. People will be willing to help you, but you must be willing to receive this help in return.

4. Perseve

What happens when you drop a basketball? It bounces, but every time it bounces, it drops lower and lower until it comes to rest on the ground. But if you keep pushing the ball toward the ground, it will keep bouncing.

The height of the bounce is determined by how hard you push the ball; the harder you press, the higher it will go. The point is that you need to keep trying, and you must keep pushing the ball toward the ground to bring it back up again. If you don't, you will stop and stand on the sidelines.

Even if you don't know how to get over your failure, keep moving forward. Exercise, clean your apartment, organize your workspace, and do anything productive. What’s worse than failure is deliberately destroying your enthusiasm, so keep going and don't give up. Author Eloise Ristad says, "When we give ourselves permission to fail, we at the same time, give ourselves permission to excel."

In Conclusion

Failure is part of life, and it is what drives us to improve. Real failure is the fear of taking risks to the point that you refuse to get out of your comfort zone. Therefore, you have to accept that it will happen again, be persistent, and keep moving forward until you achieve.

Do you think skateboarder Tony Hawk has been an expert in his work since the start? Of course not, but after hard work and facing his failure, he became a professional.

Here's a quote, to lift your spirits and motivate you, “A master craftsman has experienced failure more frequently than those who work for them." So persevere, work hard, and believe in yourself.
