Note: This article is by Darius Foroux, and talks about the joy of hard work and how it makes you happy.
He tells me that people think that working a lot is harmful to health and that you should reduce the hours of work, and he always advises me not to pay attention to such advice because the one who advises you is someone who does not enjoy their work, and they are trying to convince you of this misconception.
You won't hear someone who loves their job tell you that you shouldn't work so hard
In fact, only lazy people tell you that, and when I met my coach five years ago, I didn't understand why he was working all week without any day off, trying to get more money? Or is he trying to build a reputation for himself? Or is he running away from his reality? Like many who don't understand why a person works so hard, I didn't know the answer at the time.
Many years later, when I was watching a documentary about the Boston Celtics, I noticed a phrase they said at the gym: "Hard work can be painful, but whatever it is, is less than the pain of regret."
Then the idea became clear to me: You do not work with all your energy to impress others, and it is wrong to think that a person who works hard is trying to get appreciation or money or trying to escape from their reality, This thought reflects a lack of understanding of the value of hard work.
I still remember this quote from the documentary to this day, and every time I suffer because of work or want to give up, I remember that quote because work is not always fun. Therefore, I put all my effort into it, and in all aspects of life:
- Relations.
- Learning.
- Job.
- Health.
- Skills.
- Thinking.
Not because I desire to become rich or gain social status or anything; I work hard for fun, and I don't want to remember one day that I wasted my time on worthless things and then feel regret.

There is no substitute for hard work
American film producer Casey Neistat advises you to “Put all your energy into work.” Do all you can at work, but keep in mind this advice my coach gave me: “Rest before you get tired because you will have lots of work during your life."
This is what many people do not understand. Life is long, so you find them either working to the point of exhaustion or making no effort to work. They exaggerate in both matters, and this is not healthy Because you get exhausted and then you resent the work.
Taking a break is not complicated; all you have to do is relax yourself from time to time, not be too serious, have fun every day, and remember that you are not a machine. So don't push yourself too hard; mental fatigue is more dangerous in modern times than physical stress.
But what if you hate your job? So find another job, but don't hate working hard in your new job because of your bad experience in your previous job. If you choose the job wisely and understand how to take a break before you get exhausted, then working hard will be one of the most joyful things in life.
In conclusion
When my coach turned 65, his family tried as best as they could to get him to stop working. He said, "They're a little selfish, that's all, but I'll explain to them why I want to keep working, and they'll understand." So remember: “The pain of action is much less than the pain of regret.”
