Note: This article is by blogger and writer Darius Foroux, who shares his experience finding the right path and regaining his giving.

Here are some instances of being at your peak performance and productivity:

  1. Getting up early and going to the gym daily
  2. Writing 500 words daily.
  3. Communicate with potential customers daily.
  4. Writing journals daily.
  5. Staying away from unhealthy fast food.

The result: As with all successful, productive people who are aware of what needs to be done and who feel in control of their lives, everything is going well in your life.

According to American filmmaker Woody Allen, 80% of success is related to proof of existence.

Then, all of a sudden, something happens to obstruct your progress. It might be an unanticipated issue that occupies your thoughts, or it might be an international trip that disrupts your daily schedule. If bad things happen, you are unable to complete your tasks properly, and you do not feel like going to the gym or working. Instead, you feel sorry for yourself.

After returning from a two-week trip to Thailand, I recently had this experience, and the following is the approach that I took to regain control of my life.

4 Steps to Regaining Control of Your Life

1. No Resistance

You go with the flow when things go well, but we all know it's pointless to paddle against the flow when things are going wrong, so instead of getting upset and hard on yourself, try to take it easy. The world won't end if you stop giving for a while, and this happens to the majority of productive people I know.

Take the time to sleep, eat ice cream, relax, and skip the gym if you're feeling unproductive. You'll soon resume your productive routine because it's bad to be unproductive for an extended period of time.

Control of Your Life

2. Reviving the Past and Regaining Control of Your Life

Try to be precise, because when you veer off track, it's a good time to look back and remember one of those moments in your perfect state of mind when everything was fine.

For instance, I can recall a time when I was in my new office discussing the economy with accountants.

I had just bought a new apartment and was exercising every day, which made me feel strong and in control. At the time, everything seemed to be going well, and I was also fine.

Think back on your past and try to recall a similar event, such as the day your child was born, the day you graduated from college, the day you received a raise, the day you bought a new car, the day you proposed marriage, and so forth.

Then, by repeatedly visualizing that moment in detail in your mind, trying to be as accurate as you can in imagining your clothing, your body position, and the scent of your perfume at that precise moment, you'll feel fine and strong once more and be able to change unexpectedly from sadness to happiness and from weakness to strength.

3. Focusing on Effort Rather Than Results

Michael Jordan, a former basketball player and current businessman, once said that even though things might not always go your way, you shouldn't stop trying your hardest.

The National Basketball Association (NBA) is one of the world's longest leagues, with a regular season that lasts 6 months and 82 games, with the exception of the playoff games, where a variety of factors can affect the outcome of a basketball game. Consequently, regardless of how effectively the teams play, they lose the majority of their games throughout the season.

Vince Lombardi, a legendary football coach, once said that "Winning is a habit, and unfortunately and unfortunately so is losing," because it's easy to let a loss drag you into a downward spiral. As a result, most teams that lose once continue to lose.

I agree with this mindset and Michael Jordan's notion of emphasizing effort, but it's simpler to concentrate on outcomes when you're in a state of stagnation and routine.

You might put on weight, lose money, or fail to get the results you want at work, but you shouldn't lose sight of the fact that you'll eventually find the right track. To do this, you must focus on putting in effort because that is the only way to get back to living the ideal life, and once you do, the outcomes will come automatically.

4. Accurately Planning Your Days

What do I do next? is the one self-question you must never ask. When you schedule and plan your days, you are aware of what to do, and this is very easy:

  • Check your goals, and if you don't have any, make some.
  • Consider the daily activities you must do to accomplish these goals.
  • Add these activities to your calendar.
  • Make time for family and friends, relaxation, reading, and other activities.

You shouldn't worry about people discussing your obsession with control because the majority of them are empty.

In Conclusion, Taking the First Step is the Key to Regaining Control

If we don't know how to pursue our goals, even if we have all the plans and goals in the world, we are lost. Therefore, we need to start with activities that will help us get there. Plans mean nothing; planning is everything, as the late politician Dwight Eisenhower once said.

This reminds me that I need to get on with the rest of my day. I had set aside the previous hour to write this article, and since I'm done with it, I need to move on to the next task.
