The road is just a platform on which everything stands motionless, but the power of motion drives things to their exact destination. Similarly, everyone knows the meaning of success and how to achieve it, but the significant difference between people lies in the habits they follow.

We all have heard great stories about the failed attempts of some people and how they managed them to become totally successful people.

It is not about how many times a person fails or feels hopeless after failure because it is not a matter of willpower, motivation, or inspiration. Rather, it is the habits of doing something that keeps one going, makes them move forward no matter the challenges, and enables them to progress.

However, we rarely introduce new and better habits into our lives because one of our bad habits is to adopt habits without much thought, by chance, or due to our nature.

So, to move towards success, you need to follow positive habits. Introducing these habits into your life and committing to them might be challenging, but don't worry. There is an organized and accurate way to instill these habits and gradually introduce them into your life, outlined by the following steps:

Gradual self-improvement

To adopt any great and beneficial habit, you must first let go of destructive habits. Instant gratification is your biggest obstacle to significant achievement. When you want to receive quick prizes and rewards or feel instant gratification, you cannot settle down, work hard, or commit to doing the things that require time to achieve.

Therefore, increasing wealth overnight is just an unfounded myth. It takes years of determination and perseverance to accomplish worthwhile achievements.

For example, Rome was not built in a day, and Facebook did not become the largest and most famous social networking site overnight. Rome was a great city, and so is Facebook nowadays, but their establishment required a lot of time and hard and continuous work.

So, to introduce any new great habit into your life, you first have to give up your worst habit ever, which is the desire to get immediate results for any action you take. Otherwise, you will start everything with unparalleled passion and enthusiasm and find that your enthusiasm and passion will be extinguished very quickly, and then you will never return to practicing that habit again.

For example, let's say you want to make regular exercise part of your daily habits to have a lean, fit body. So, you go to the gym with a great passion for weight lifting, but you look in the mirror one month later and hardly see a noticeable difference in your body.

So, you decide to stop exercising. Your dream of having a perfect body has been shattered; you have lost your determination, and you are reluctant to exercise regularly again. You should not prefer immediate results and you should never expect them.

3 Steps to Cultivate Beneficial Habits

Realism

Great habits achieve greater results for you and add an astonishing touch to your life. But one of the biggest problems you face when you start introducing one into your life is exhausting yourself in trying to stick to that habit because you set unrealistic expectations in terms of the results you expect from it.

For example, if you work as a blogger, you will certainly want to earn $100,000 from your blog every month. Be ready to work and make every effort to devote as much time as possible to practicing the habit of writing great things. You will continue to write, day and night.

Expecting this much money right from the start burdens you in the end. The chances of earning that amount of money in a few months will become more and more minimal.

The above can be an attainable or achievable goal but takes longer (a whole year, for instance). Thus, you should allocate your efforts gradually over your working hours.

Do not try to pressure yourself to complete a task that spans a year within two months, as it may weaken and destabilize your creative abilities.

You may suffer job burnout, which will reflect negatively on your blog eventually and lead you toward losing momentum and failing before you even start because you set those massive and unrealistic expectations right from the start.

Set realistic expectations for your habits, define a feasible timeline for optimal results, and ensure their continuity through lifelong commitment.

Allocating enough time for it

You need enough time to do anything new and bring it into your life, so before choosing a new habit and organizing it or scheduling it within a specific time frame, ensure someone else manages your previous responsibilities during that period or be prepared to relinquish those tasks; otherwise, you will find yourself handcuffed for adding another habit to your already overcrowded work schedule.

For example, let's say you want to make app design or meditation a daily habit when you get home from work, but you are actually taking care of your elderly parents during that time. If you decide to start a new habit, either your parents suffer from your absence or you must take care of them and meet their needs in less time. In either scenario, you will be overwhelmed by the sheer volume of work you must complete, which ultimately prevents you from adhering to the habit diligently because you won't have the assurance and peace of mind.

So, to make a new habit, make sure you have enough free time to follow that habit and keep practicing it, like arranging care for your parents at your sibling's house or getting some elderly home care services, so that you have nothing to bother you or worry about when you start practicing the new habit.

Good and healthy habits are essential in the eyes of everyone, but what is most lacking is the mindset or way of thinking necessary to maintain those habits for a long time until they become an essential part of your life, so ensure you not only want good habits but also make efforts to implement them.
