It is a state of being lost, as if the worst that could happen is happening now. Therefore, there is no benefit to be desired from a friend, lover, or work, as all you feel that you need is to sit alone and far away, as if someone turned off the light inside you.

There is no one who doesn’t get hurt, even once in life, and this condition is called in psychology "loss of passion."

The reasons behind the loss of passion are many and different from one person to another. Therefore, it cannot be limited to a specific group of reasons or to one reason, as reaching this stage is often the result of a large group of accumulated factors and causes that eventually led to a person losing his passion, and among these reasons:

1. Failure

When a person fails more than once in achieving a goal or a desire, they begin to lose confidence in themselves, feel frustrated, and develop the perception in themselves that they are failures and that they will not be able, no matter how hard they try, to achieve their dreams and goals. This is what drives them to isolate themselves and stop doing anything.

2. Raising the ceiling of human expectations

and the inability to reach those expectations, regardless of progress and development, would, of course, generate a feeling of frustration and lack of achievement, Which would cause a loss of passion to follow the road.

3. Boredom

achieving goals and achieving satisfactory results does not happen quickly; Rather, it takes a long time and continuous effort, but some people feel bored in the middle of the road. This is because of the difficulties they face in following up, so they feel helpless, Which prevents them from advancing and continuing on their path.

and the dominance of the same routine over a person's life is one of the important reasons for the loss of passion, as a person feels that their life has no meaning and that they are aware in advance of everything that will happen to him in the next day, and this is what causes boredom and hatred for the life they live, and they lose the desire to follow it.

5. Absence of goals

A state of dispersion experienced by people who do not have a goal because of their inability to achieve, and this will be a major reason for feeling frustrated.

6. Lack of encouragement and stimulus to achieve passion

when this incentive is absent, our goals will become mere wishes that we are unable to achieve.

One of the most dangerous things that happens is when a person discovers, after a long journey of fatigue, that what they are looking for will not be found at the end of the path that they are taking and that what they are looking for is something entirely different.

It is important to point out that the loss of passion may be caused by some diseases, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder, and other diseases.

A person who goes through a state of loss of passion shows a set of signs and indications, and these symptoms may be similar to those of depression. We will mention the following, the most important of them:

  • A feeling of anxiety that results in frustration and a sense of inferiority and failure.
  • The life of a person with this condition is dominated by a constant feeling of boredom, that all the work they do is unimportant, and that they do not have a small iota of enthusiasm for it.
  • The desire to stay in bed and not go through life or engage in business, in addition to feeling unwilling to talk and communicate with others.
  • Regretting the previous decisions taken, feeling that they were wrong and that they were the main reason behind all these feelings, and if they had chosen something else, they would be in a better place now.
  • Instability of relations with the surroundings, the multiplicity of problems, and the emergence of differences, especially with close ones.
  • Insomnia and inability to sleep.

Here it should be noted that loss of passion is a different term from depression, and that it may be one of the signs of depression. To differentiate between the two terms, attention can be paid to the following points:

  1. Depression differs from loss of passion in causes and treatment methods.
  2. Loss of passion is not a disease or psychological disorder like depression. Rather, it is a temporary stage that a person goes through during his life.
  3. The person who loses passion does not need medical treatment sessions, medications, or hospitalization, as happens in depression. Rather, all a patient needs is some support, guidance, and advice.
  4. Depression is capable of detonating the creative states of the person affected by it, such as poetry, sculpture, or drawing. As for the loss of passion, it is a state of emptiness that afflicts the person, making them feel that they are incapable of any achievement.

Loss of passion leads to a group of bad psychological effects: as the person becomes more nervous and more hateful, their apathy increases, they become incapable of making decisions and turn away from people, and in some cases, they seriously think of suicide; Therefore, it is necessary to search for treatment methods to get rid of this condition as soon as possible before the effects extend and permeate the person’s life and ruin it, and among these methods are:

  • You have to know what you really like and what you want to achieve, and you must set practical and achievable goals.
  • Do not make it difficult for you and do not try to reach it quickly. Rather, keep in mind that the journey is long, and in order to overcome the feelings of frustration or coldness that will afflict you, try to make your goal composed of several steps. Wherever you succeed in one step, you will receive motivation and encouragement to take the next step.
  • Reading some types of books and novels and watching movies that give motivation and encouragement may be one way to help you overcome this stage.
  • Sleeping for sufficient periods is very important to maintain your activity and energy, which will then increase your ability to work and achieve.
  • Don't burn yourself out with work and turn your life into a to-do list. Rather, get used to taking breaks from time to time and practicing hobbies and works that you love.
  • Stay away from negative people who do not stop grumbling and spreading negative energy, and replace them with positive people who give you the encouragement and motivation you are looking for.
  • If your life is boring and has a lot of routine, look for new ways and activities that are outside your lifestyle to add some fun to it, life; Like going on a surprise trip and having fun without work or responsibilities.
  • Do not tire yourself too much, do not make the completion of many achievements an obsession for you, and accept your mistakes and your inability to always succeed, because this does not mean that you are a failure at all.
  • Doing physical exercises, as confirmed by many researchers, is linked to mental health and has a major role in adjusting mood.
  • If all the previous advice fails to help you, seek support from someone close to you or a psychologist to diagnose the condition well, as it is likely that the loss of passion is caused by a disease.
