Man is comfortable with beauty and feels joy when connected to what is beautiful. Therefore, beauty was and is still the subject of his interest and appreciation, and this is shown through the artistic heritage of humanity, from ancient times until the age in which we live, as shown by what prominent thinkers have said about beauty and art and its relationship with man.

Socrates said: "The sweet dialect, agility, and regularity come from a noble, orderly mind." Rousseau said: "If one of us could one day take away from our hearts the love of beauty, there would be no magic left in our eyes." In this article, we will learn about educational values in beauty and art.

The Value of Beauty and Art

The value of beauty and art goes beyond its significant impact on an individual's life to include expressing society's problems and raising citizens' awareness of them, involving members of various communities in cross-cultural communication, and fostering greater understanding between them.

Many educators have called to implement aesthetic or artistic education in the home, school, and community due to the connection they have found between man and beauty.

An appreciation of beauty and its meanings, as well as its qualities and innovation, is a part of the aesthetic or artistic experience. This content is crucial for the development of various educational values as well as for the representation of those values in the person's personality.

The Value of Beauty and Art

The value of sensory perception of beauty and art

Art is more concerned with the senses than with pure ideas, as mathematics does, for example. The subject of art is a physical thing that faces the senses first, and art is not concerned with a soul that does not have a physical body. Instead, it is about specific things that have a material existence. Moreover, some or all of the senses are called to work.

Music is contained in an organization of sounds and is carried by the vibrations of material materials. The use of different dyes and vision are the foundations of painting. In addition to being aesthetically pleasing, sculpture and architecture are based on solid materials like metal and stones. In addition to using sight, dance also appeals to the kinetic and aesthetic senses, using the human body as its material basis.

As a result, the entire gamut of materials that stimulate the senses and the full extent of sensory perception are included in the aesthetic experience. The arts offer a variety of experience qualities in response to this diversity.

Every member of sensory perception can be invited to participate in the appreciating aesthetics process, and a wide variety of material objects can serve as the subject matter of the aesthetic. As a result, the aesthetic experience is based on all facets of human sensitivity rather than being restricted to a specific field of perception.

Individual and subjective value of beauty and art

Aesthetic experience is never a general topic; it is always a personal one. In this sense, science and art are inherently different from one another. Science starts with the observation of individual objects, but art always progresses to the creation of descriptive categories, rules, or laws that exceed the private in the interest of the public.

Science is concerned with the kinds of things and is based on concepts, whereas art is based on perceptions. As for art, it is interested in unique things because of their individuality and distinctiveness. The aesthetic topic is self-contained and doesn't require comparison to other aesthetic subjects. The principle of individuality is a significant contribution of art to education.

Aesthetic experience is also characterized by its intrinsic value. We enjoy the aesthetic subject itself and not because it performs another value. Eating is to get the ability to do daily work or satisfy hunger and is not an aesthetic activity.

On the other hand, the direct enjoyment of beauty, touch, smell, and taste of good food has an aesthetic nature, and this does not mean that aesthetic topics have no benefit: they may have a media value. However, the criterion for judging their aesthetic value is not their relationship to external things but their nature and subjectivity.

subjective value of beauty

The value of continuity through time for beauty and art

Another feature of art is its importance when we compare it to history. History is concerned with unique things, not classifications of things. Things of history are different from those of art. Art focuses on specific individual materials, whereas history and art history address unique events.

From an aesthetic perspective, the temporal situation has no bearing on the subject matter of art, even though the incident takes place at a specific time. A modern building, a Renaissance painting, and an ancient Greek statue are all examples of objects that are unique in their forms throughout time.

While histories, circumstances, and objects' origins are significant to art historians, they are unrelated to the aesthetic perspective. Art is inherently timeless.

The Value of Innovation in Beauty and Art

It is necessary to view the reflective appreciation of beauty as a bad thing. Conversely, engaging in an aesthetic experience is a creative endeavor. Art is making something that is evident in the artist who brings materials together aesthetically to achieve shapes. This artistic endeavor demonstrates the capacity for creativity inherent in human nature.

It is also true that appreciating art is a creative act; however, the experience of responding to an aesthetic subject is akin to that of the artist who creates beauty, and the person who finds meaning in the aesthetic subject may interpret it entirely differently than its creator did. This feature has a significant educational value, as it directs aesthetic education toward fostering artistic innovation and creativity.

The value of form, feeling, and emotion in beauty and art

Sensation and sentiment are elements of artistic meaning. A subject that stirs up, soothes, or uplifts the viewer or listener's emotions is not aesthetically pleasing. Influential art needs to charge life; that is, it needs to elicit a warm feeling and validate the worth of the things we appreciate, and the reward needs to be immediate gratification or enjoyment.

Emotion is not the only factor that determines aesthetic meaning. The experience of art is a tumultuous, formless flow of life energy or a frantic rush of emotion. In art, meaning encompasses not only form and feeling but also light. A work's aesthetic value is determined by its type, which comprises distinct and constrained forms. The aesthetic meaning is the form we feel for the beautiful thing.

Logic in the Arts

We can find the aesthetic form in the logical construction, although logic is not always the same as what is discovered in scientific research. A musical form, for instance, might have an introduction, a topic, a topical detail, and an end. Rhythmic issues can arise and call for a harmonious resolution.

Tragedy and comedy, for instance, have different forms of theatrical construction, and every play has specific presumptions, conversations, and conclusions. However, in acting, music, and all other forms of art, how the entire pattern is presented is entirely different from the process of debating verbal facts.

The breadth of meanings in beauty and art

More meaning domains are accessible through art than through form or style. That can be found through verbal research or common-sense reasoning, and adhering strictly to scientific interpretations limits the range of meaningful experience.

Choosing between a universe of undefined feelings and a world of scientific facts is unnecessary. Accurately understanding the logic of art opens up a whole new realm of aesthetic interpretation. Art education broadens the scope of meanings by providing students with a more expansive and flexible understanding of the logic required to create an aesthetic experience.

Art and Ethics

Attitudes about the relationship of art to ethics vary, and three positions can be distinguished in relation to this topic:

1. Independence

Art must be independent of ethics. Moral tension disrupts the artist's creativity and discovers the aesthetic significance in the form of the artistic subject, not by reference to an external principle such as consistency with a moral principle.

Furthermore, a person who integrates into the contemplation of beauty follows a very different path than one morally concerned with duty and design. While morality is about labor, aesthetics is about perception.

2. Matching

People who think that goodness and beauty go hand in hand feel that morality and aesthetics are compatible and that pleasures associated with evil eventually lead to deception and illusion.

This perspective holds that specific standards of beauty determine what is aesthetically pleasing and what will also elevate one's moral standards. As a result, the arts in education serve as morally intensifying instruments.

3. Interrelationship

The middle position recognizes the differences in type between aesthetic and moral experience without denying a certain moral relationship with beauty and vice versa. Art influences behavior, so it can be morally evaluated, but there is also a moral evaluation that incorporates a direct cognitive meaning.

As a result, art education is morally significant because it cultivates certain aesthetic sensations and strives to harmonize them with the highest standards of behavior and personality.

In conclusion

Undoubtedly, aesthetic experience discloses a significant kind of truth: stable sensory objects elicit positive responses from people who have been socialized appropriately.

Perceiving beauty in this way leads to knowledge about the nature of things and the truth, which is defined differently from knowledge in other domains like science, language, and history.

There is more diversity in distinct forms, the size of appropriate communication societies, and the personal qualities necessary for their membership.
