Note: This article is taken from the blog "Erin Falconer", in which she tells us about her experience with failure.
There is a common saying that the only regrets a person has are missed opportunities. Perhaps the person who said it did not take any risk in their life due to the fact that any danger involves many risks that are harmful to men and cause them a feeling of regret, or perhaps because of the humiliation and sense of shame or stupidity that resulted from that experience.
I remember when I was previously arrogant and stubborn, which I thought was the right thing to do. I ignored the opinions of others who warned me, and my failure was proof of how wrong I was.
Regret may be caused by wasting time or hurting the feelings of others, such as preventing your children from doing something in the present for a better future for them. Whatever the nature of the failure, it leaves a mark on human life, especially when they make a new experience different from what is expected of them, such as deciding to live life differently from others.
Living courageously has its consequences and places a great deal of responsibility on man. This is what gives meaning to life, because easy things are not fun. You can combine caution and move forward toward your goals occasionally without suffering or trying to return to a safe and comfortable mode.
Many successful people, such as businessman Richard Branson, assert that the ability to regain strength and vitality after failure is the most essential quality anyone with an entrepreneurial project should possess.
Ways to Keep Moving Forward After Failure
This article can assist you in the following five ways:
1. Rediscover your motivation
We often lose our vision and the real motivation that makes us pursue a dream and work for it, and this seems clear when there is a common dream for several people but with different motivations. This explains the difference in outcome between them.
The problem is that our firm convictions are due to emotional rather than logical motivations. Therefore, they are challenging to interpret in this society, so we ignore them. When we forget or disregard a person's core motivation, they become weak-willed and quick to surrender to any challenge or confrontation because they lose emotional attachment to the desired result, which was strong and stemmed from a personal desire at the beginning.
You can also use meditation to explore your deep motivations, regardless of the opinions of others. It is essential to derive energy and stimulation from them to help you continue.

2. Remember the people who will rejoice at your failure
With every failed experience in life, we encounter people who undervalue us, and when we succeed, they also question our abilities. They often belong to the lifestyle we are trying to get rid of, and we usually ignore their opinions because we are sure that our success will eventually be the strongest response to them.
When we fail to achieve the desired results, their faces come to our minds, and we feel ashamed and ruminate on their opinions. Were they right, and are we wrong?
You can turn this stage in your favor; instead of remembering them and feeling frustrated and afraid of their judgments, make this an incentive for you to get up, regain your strength, and move to a new stage.
3. Possess new and helpful perspectives
Adopting new perspectives has a great benefit by reprogramming the brain to follow new rules different from what it’s accustomed to. You must stand against society's false beliefs that form a comfort zone to which the brain smoothly resorts in difficult times and challenges. You must make sure to read helpful books and talk to positive people.
Believing in your ability to succeed is the biggest motivator because your mind will respond to your positive or negative beliefs and will work to implement them, and it is also helped by having a supportive environment and encouraging people by your side.
4. Confronting fear
Thinking about fears is usually worse than actually facing them. They often take up more space than the normal thought process, and when encountered with them, you discover their limitations and your ability to overcome them, so identify your fears and confront them through the following questions:
- What are you afraid to face in the future?
- What are you afraid of when you give up?
- Does fear prevent you from achieving your goals? Does fear get in your way? Have you tried to explain your concerns and find logical reasons for them?
- Are these concerns realistic? If so, can you do anything to avoid its consequences?
Don't bury or ignore your fears; face them head-on so you can make logical decisions that aren't based on fear.
5. Continuing to work and not giving up
Even when your faith is at its worst and you can't think about your goal anymore, trust your intentions and keep working. You can adjust your strategy and way of working if necessary. It is essential not to stop seeking because it will help you get out of that impasse, regain confidence in yourself and your abilities, and give you new opportunities.
In conclusion
There is no doubt that failure is a challenging experience that leaves an impact on a person, but it can also be a turning point towards success. Your failed experiences that you have not given up on and your permanent ability to rise again will be a constant part of your success story, and this is your great legacy that no one will be able to take away from you.
