It is normal for an individual to face difficult times during which they hate everything related to their life and may wish to die to eliminate feelings of helplessness, discontent, lack of self-worth, and the thought that no one wants them in their life.

Note: This article is by Erin Falconer, who shares 4 tips for overcoming low self-esteem.

I have experienced days like this. A person must go through experiences that distress their days, frustrate their lives, prevent them from getting a good night's sleep, and maybe hurt and tempted by feelings of self-worth. A person's only unquenchable desire is to one day eliminate this misery.

Low self-esteem leads a person to question their abilities, the adequacy of their efforts, and entitlement to the love and appreciation of the people in their life, and they may feel that the credit for all their achievements is due to luck and pure coincidence.

Four tips to overcome the problem of low self-esteem

1. Talk to yourself

This advice requires you to talk to yourself in front of the mirror, tell them to stop feelings of self-worthlessness, and that you deserve much more than you think. Then repeat the phrase: "I am beautiful, confident in myself, courageous, ambitious, and I do not care what others think of me."

At first, you may feel that this advice is useless and you will not be convinced of what you say, but you must continue to apply it in all cases. One generally cares about the impressions of others about them because they listen to their words more than they do to their own opinion.

For this reason, you must tell yourself that you are essential and deserve all the good and success in life.

2. Eliminate negativity

You get rid of negativity by writing down all your problems, flaws, deficiencies, and hurtful phrases that you were exposed to. For example, when someone told you you were worthless or mocked you.

In short, you must write down all the negative thoughts that come to mind when you are about to move on to a specific goal or work, and when you finish writing it down, burn the paper and watch the flames devour your harmful thoughts and turn them into ashes.

You can film the burning process to watch again later. All your problems and flaws have disappeared, and you are now free and pure and able to start again and achieve any goal you set.

3. Write

You do not have to be talented in writing to apply this advice. It is enough to have feelings and ideas that you want to express. You do not have to write about yourself or life. You can choose any topic that you want to discuss in writing.

Some people may want to keep these writings in a journal, and you can write about your inspiring friend, favorite food, or the games you enjoy watching; in short, you can write about anyone or something that cheers you up.

4. Seek help from loved ones

Often, the individual avoids opening up and disclosing what is in their mind to those close to them and is keen to falsify themselves and hide their true feelings and personality.

I did not accept the idea of complaining and crying in the presence of someone else in the past because I would look weak and more vulnerable in such a situation. I was struggling to hide my sadness and tears, and I kept myself from crying until I was alone.

After faking a big smile and pretending to be okay, I went out again, but I recently had a harsh experience. I began to suffer from severe anxiety and panic attacks, and this time, instead of being alone, I rushed to my mother's room.

At first, I had some difficulty disclosing what was on my mind because emotions can sometimes seem irrational, which leads one to keep them to themselves and never share them, or they may feel that no one will understand their situation and feelings.

This concept must be corrected because people can naturally communicate and understand each other at different levels.

You don't have to think about what you want to say. Instead, smoothly unleash your thoughts, start talking, and reveal all the ideas you've held in your depths. When you feel like you're about to collapse, you can find some solace and psychological comfort and settle your pain when you share it with others, and it's okay to cry as well. It's a natural human expression of feelings of sadness.

In conclusion

85% of individuals suffer from low self-esteem, and all individuals have problems, feelings of insecurity, and irrational fears that they experience day after day. People often hide their sorrows behind a false smile they draw on their faces in front of others.

You can get rid of the problem of low self-esteem, and you do not have to endure it throughout your life, so when you have doubts about moving forward, you should remind yourself of the progress you have made and the crises you have overcome in the past. Remember that you are brave, beautiful, and strong enough that no one else will realize it, so don't give up, and you are not alone in your struggle in life.
