A big part of being happy and successful is letting go of what you think your life is supposed to be right now, and genuinely appreciating it for what it is. Sometimes, we all feel that we are incompetent, unable to develop, or that we are having difficulty making the slightest progress.

Although it is normal to feel this way, you must eventually break free from it and consider your life in a more positive light.

The key is to pay attention to the little things, and just because you're not where you want to be doesn't mean you're a failure. Actually, it's quite the opposite. Today, being happy and successful doesn’t mean that you aspire for more. Rather, you are genuinely grateful for what you have to achieve and look forward to your future.

For this, train your mind to perceive the good side of your current situation. Life is a chain of a series of thousands of small miracles. Appreciate your life, and look for the good things around you. When you wake up every morning, think of three things that are going well in your life right now. Additionally, before going to sleep, appreciate all the things that went well during your day.

Pay attention to the positive influences in your life, and you will grow stronger every day. Remind yourself of what makes your life better, and you will find ways to make many other things work, too. Furthermore, the most effective way to enjoy more success in life is to get rid of your previous failures. Instead, try to improve your areas of success.

16 Reasons to Succeed in Life

1. You follow your own path, not others

One of the main factors of success and happiness is to be comfortable with yourself, not to give up your free will, and not to fake your personality. So, don't let anyone's ignorance, hatred, or negativity stop you. If you want to make a difference in the world, you must be unique. Don’t be afraid to walk alone in your path.

2. You overcome your fears gradually

It's unrealistic to run away from your fear. Often, what you are afraid of dealing with is what will set you free. For this, keep doing what you've been doing, take another step forward today, and don’t let your fear decide your future.

Instead, let it wake you up. Seize opportunities, engage in exciting activities, and tell yourself that being afraid to suffer is much worse than actually suffering. Additionally, convince yourself that everything you want lies on the other side of fear.

3. You don’t let failure limits you

Every success has a series of failures behind it, and every failure leads to success. Many times, our greatest insight comes from our failures, not from our accomplishments. It is a matter of learning each lesson and moving forward with it.

Whether you choose to live with failure, resist it, change it, or hide from it, life goes on. If what you did today didn't go as well as you hoped, tomorrow you will have a new opportunity. So, try again, or do something completely different. The bottom line is realizing that you have a choice.

4. You learn something new that makes you grow every day

In order to find the best way forward, we must sometimes deviate from it. There are no wrong turns, just paths we didn't know we had to take. To be successful, you don't have to be perfect, you have to be able to never stop growing.

Mistakes make you stronger. Life is a series of small journeys, so learn from every step you take. Never confuse your path with your destination, and just because it's stormy sometimes doesn’t mean you're not heading toward the sunshine.

5. You already overcame some big obstacles

Nothing is ever as bad as it seems, and there is benefit and blessing hidden within every experience and every outcome. Keep in mind the possibility that small obstacles in your life path are not obstacles, but starting points to amazing places.

6. You're doing your best to accept your current situation

A big part of success and happiness lies not in getting everything you want, but in being content with what you get. Resisting your current situation causes stress. Be satisfied with what you get until you can appreciate, learn, and then let go of it.

Sometimes, the best possible response is to be at peace with what you have, rather than wishing and bemoaning it. For this, you must do your best.

7. You're doing your best to be present

We realize that we have to improve our lives when we understand that we only live once. Therefore, nothing is worth thinking about more than this very moment. Since you can't change yesterday or predict tomorrow, you must be present, focus on what you can do today, and tomorrow you will figure out what needs to be done, just as it was yesterday.

8. You're focusing on self-love, instead of fantasizing about being loved by others

Putting yourself first doesn't mean being selfish, but it means being self-aware, and that means never forgetting to love yourself too.

9. You never judge others

Sometimes, people are quick to judge but slow to correct themselves. You know that, but you do the opposite because judging people is much easier than understanding them. Understanding takes more kindness and patience, and kindness and patience are worth the suffering, as these are the things that make all the difference in the end.

10. You have a positive influence on your close circle

Never miss an opportunity to tell someone how wonderful they are and how beautiful they are inside and outside.

11. You're surrounding yourself with good people

Your ability to be functional and happy is directly related to the kind of people who surround you every day. Having one or two of these people really is a priceless blessing, and these are the relationships worth celebrating.

12. You are selfless in your relationships

Almost every immoral act can be traced back to a selfish motive; a trait we hate in others but often justify in ourselves. The fact that you made sacrifices for the people you love is wonderful. I know it's not easy. It's one of the hardest parts of loving someone, as you have to give things up for them.

13. You stopped doing things for others out of guilt

We sometimes give in to the requests of our loved ones out of guilt, but we need to stop feeling guilty for not giving the people we care about everything they want. It's okay to turn down a request for friends and family sometimes and you know it. So, keep doing what you know is right, and don't let false guilt control you.

14. You never overspend to impress or please others

It's fine to say to our friends and family, "I can't afford that," or "We'll have to save up for it" because it's real life. We don't have all the money in the world to buy everything we want.

15. You respect yourself enough not to let anyone take advantage of you

Don't sacrifice your self-worth or moral values for the sake of a relationship, true love, and friendship can only flourish through mutual respect.

16. You know you can't please anyone

Stay strong, and don't let the negative opinions of others derail you. After all, there are two types of people, those who drain your energy and creative power, and those who give you energy and support your growth. So, avoid the first kind, and be happy, open, and honest with yourself every day, and if others don't like it, then so be it. Success in life is not about pleasing everyone.
