What If You Could Eliminate Negative Emotions with a Simple Tap?

We have always been accustomed to dealing with our negative feelings with a lot of denial or resistance; Either we drop their right to appear, considering that they are intrusive to our ingredients and do not belong to us in any way, or we confront them in a violent way that leads us to self-hatred and aversion to them, so we experience feelings of anger, resentment, and discomfort all the time.

We are addicted to sitting in our homes folding long hours checking on the lesser and most insignificant details instead of enjoying life and feeling its splendor, adopting nervousness and dissatisfaction constantly, without having any control over the wave of negative emotions we feel.

It is time to change the way we deal with our negative emotions, so what if we acknowledge their existence and embrace them instead of denying them or facing them with extreme violence? What if we could deal with it properly with a little movement of pressure from our fingers on specific places of our body? What if we could integrate our body and soul? What if we could combine our mental perceptions with our physical responses to reach comfort and balance?

Our conversation throughout this article is about the psychological freedom technique to eliminate negative emotions.

Between body and mind

We always note that every feeling we feel creates a specific response in our body. You experience the flow of energy and vitality in your body with every positive independent experience, such as feelings of joy and pleasure.

You also experience physical pain and discomfort with every negative emotion you experience, such as feelings of anger, stress, anxiety, or sadness.

When you are stressed, you will not be able to breathe freely, you will not be able to sleep well when you feel sad, your stomach and nervous colon will not follow you when you are anxious and uncomfortable, and your joints will not serve you when you are depressed. So, our body tells us about our psychological and emotional state.

Hence comes the importance of right dealing with negative emotions, as they affect our physical health, our dealings with others, and our view of life.

You will not tend to open up to people when you are sad. Still, you will tend to isolate yourself at home, and you will not have an affirmative view of life when you are nervous and anxious.

Negative Emotions

Traditional Dealing with Negative Emotions

Most of us adopt failed techniques in dealing with negative emotions; Either we deny their existence and rob them of their right to appear, which leads to their accumulation inside us, and because the body is the mirror of feelings, these feelings occur in the form of very annoying physical diseases.

Either we admit their existence but violently, as if we strongly resist and categorically reject them, which increases their intensity, as what you refuse increases more and more.

The psychological freedom technique to eliminate negative emotions

This technique relies on fully acknowledging negative emotions and accepting their presence in us rather than violently denying or resisting them.

It then links the negative thought to the body by pressing specific points in the body that are responsible for neural and energy pathways so that the pat on it sends a signal to the amygdala asking it to calm down and not to mobilize or do a technique (confrontation or escape), which helps to clean the energy pathways in the human body from the accumulated negative feelings to rest.

How to apply patting?

1. Identification

First, you have to be very specific about the negative thought that bothers you and causes you pain. For example, you should not say, "I am upset with my mother," but you should accurately determine the thing that bothers you with your mother, such as saying: "I am disturbed by the loud voice of my mother."

Or you identify your annoyance with your partner and say, “I am annoyed with my partner's style.” Or specify your bother with your appearance, such as saying: "I am not satisfied with the shape of my nose."

2. Sensor

Feel the negative thinking in your body, as each negative thought generates pain in the body, such as pain in the colon, stomach, head, or joints. If you do not feel any pain, then focus on any negative thoughts that worry and stress you.

3. Scale

Determine the degree of negative emotion you feel on a scale of one to ten.

4. Receptivity

This technique is based on accepting negative emotions, unlike the traditional way of dealing with feelings.

You have to tell yourself after the pain test: "I am receptive to this pain, and I am sure that it will go away." Here, your nervous system gives a sense of security that you lack traditionally.

Therefore, your nervous system calms down and tries to help you find solutions to eliminate negative feelings.

5. Patting

Here you begin to pet specific points in your body to free the energy pathways from negative emotions, as follows:

5.1. Head area

Here, you pat the top of the head area with your five fingers, and then you say the phrase of acceptance during patting, such as saying: "I accept my fear of cats, but it will go away," "I accept my stress from the exams, but it will go away," "I accept my fear of not marrying, but it will go away."

5.2. Eyebrow area

You pat the point at the end of the eyebrow, and use the middle and forefinger and echo the acceptance phrase. You then pat the point below the beginning of the eyebrow, also using the middle and forefinger.

5.3. The eye area

You pat the area under the eye, echoing the acceptance phrase, using the middle and index fingers.

5.4. The area below the nose tip

This is where you pat the point below the nose tip, echoing the acceptance phrase.

5.5. Chin area

You pat the chin area, echoing the acceptance phrase.

5.6. Throat area

You pat the entire area of the throat (the area between the collarbones), echoing the acceptance phrase.

5.7. Underarm area

Choose the point under the armpit with four fingers and pat it using your hand while repeating the previous phrase.

5.8. Submammary area

Patting under the breast for females and under the nipple for males.

5.9. Wrist area

You pat on the wrist from the top and then on the wrist from the bottom, and you have to pat on the point that lies along the pinky in the hand palm.

As for the number of pats, there is no specific number, and you can, for example, pat ten counters per area. On the other hand, most people have recorded success in their experience with the technique of "pat." Still, if you do not get the expected result after applying this technique, you can repeat it until you get the desired result.
