Most People are Smarter than You: The Impact of Perseverance on Achieving Success

Let's face it. We are not experts at anything we do. Even if some of us excel at certain things, there is always someone better than someone with more knowledge. However, many of us think we are experts, even experts themselves.

Note: This article is based on the blogger Evan Tarver, who tells us about his experience with achieving success if we put in enough effort and persevere.

There is something exciting about being an expert, I call it the human habit. However, there is an instinctive desire within us; It is the feeling that others need us, and for many of us, having experiences is a way of satisfying that need. However, most of our "experiences" are not experiences at all. They are certainly more than average knowledge, but this is not enough to make an expert.

There is always someone more intelligent in almost every possible situation, and very few people can say they are the best in their field. Even those who can say they are the best do not stay that way for long because someone always comes to take the place of the "best," or as we will talk about in this article, take the place of the "expert"; This means that even the same experts can learn from other experts, and anyone can learn from everyone else. It is an endless cycle, just like the world we live in.

Although there are experts and people we can learn from, they may not be you or me, and although we may not be experts, we all want something, and we all want to excel in some field or a certain passion or in achieving a goal. Also, we learn indirectly through other people at any point.

If none of us have extensive experience in a field, are all learnable, and aspire to be good or perhaps the best at a certain thing, why not look for experts from whom we can learn?

Experts are humans too

First, let us discuss in detail what it means to be an expert. You must have heard quotes and sayings, and most people abbreviate the meaning of an expert as someone with more knowledge of a certain subject than others. Also, these people can be anyone, but after there is someone who has more knowledge than these people, he is an "expert." This means that experts are not mighty; Rather, they may know little, but we deal with experts as if they have reached a level far from reach, and as we always say to ourselves, they certainly have capabilities that exceed ours.

But here is the problem, they need to be. The expert did not become an expert by divine will or through great power, and experts do not have greater powers of superiority. Still, we treat experts as superhumans, as if they have never done something we can never do.

Achieving Success

Instead, think of experts as people who have made an effort and noticed that hard work pays off. This is because, as we all know, investing time in hard work and perseverance will lead to great things. So, instead of having tremendous powers, these experts have a work ethic, which gave them a mixture of reference experiences and the perfect timing, thanks to which they were able to achieve success. If the person were successful in any field, they would be considered an expert in the field in which they achieved success.

Reaching success requires a long time, and when we see the success that someone has achieved, we praise their intelligence, and we think that they have more intelligence than us because of their achievement of that success, and suddenly this person becomes an expert for us. However, we do not consider the time, effort, and fatigue they spent, the failures they experienced, and the lessons they learned from them, which brought them to this stage of success.

Suppose you ignore the stage of success reached by the experts and the concept of "expertise" and instead look at the entire journey of the person from the beginning of the passion to the achievement of the goal. In that case, you will see that this person is not very different from you or me. The only difference is that the successful expert vowed to become great and then set to work.

Think of musicians. When we see the successes of famous musicians, it is difficult to understand that we can do the same thing. Instead, these musicians are superior experts in one way or another, and we do not look at the experiences they had in the past.

Even celebrities are ordinary people

Let us talk in more detail about celebrities who have succeeded in some fields. At the beginning of their career, some of them did not have money or work, and they started with small steps, and over the years, with their persistence and continued efforts to achieve the success they desired, they reached their goal and achieved what they wanted.

Success is achieved slowly and takes some time, and when you make enough effort, anything you want will be achieved. We may think that these famous people have talents that we do not have, and it may be so, but if we look at their career and the time it took them to achieve what they achieved, Thus, we will see that it was the work ethic and perseverance that got them to where they are now, not the talents they possess.

This means you can become an expert in anything you want if you do the necessary work and persevere. The only difference between you and these celebrities is that they continued to work hard, were open and honest about who they were, and gathered the necessary reference expertise to achieve success. However, even these same celebrities had mentors and sought help from experts on their paths.

Achieving Success

There is no stupid question

So, it has been proven that experts are not mighty and that anyone can become an expert with proper work ethic and perseverance, but experts do exist. It doesn't matter if a person aspires to become an expert in any field. There are experts in every field.

In all fields, there is always someone who does a better job than you or at least someone who did it before you; This means that they have knowledge that you do not have. If your ultimate goal is to become an expert in your field or passion, you should take advantage of the knowledge of these people.

The fact of the matter is that 99.9% of people are smarter than you in at least one field, if not more, and someone may be better at entrepreneurship than you, or another person who is more specialized in sports than you, or someone else who has more talent in art than you. But overall, the pool of experts in the world makes them 99.9% better than us in almost everything.

Achieving Success

Life is full of different modalities

If your passion is strong enough and you have the necessary work ethic, you can accelerate your experience by benefiting from referenced knowledge and experiences. By communicating with experts in the field you desire, it is possible to accelerate your success.

It is possible to gain knowledge indirectly through interaction with these experts; This helps you avoid risks, create opportunities for success, and increase the necessary skills.

You may not have one way to become an expert in the matter you are passionate about or the field you want, but there is certainly a plan.

Life is full of different ways, and whether you are trying to start a big company like Google or trying to do something great, there is a way to get to the thing you want, and this does not diminish the importance of the creative process. Still, these experts succeeded by following specific paths, even if they selected this path later.

Think in detail about what made these high performers successful and what caused some failures to fail, then design a path based on your own experiences. It's time to tap into the wealth of knowledge.

I will tell you a little about myself; I vowed to become a traditional writer, and I have a self-published book. But at one time, I used other publishers, and I did this to tell people that I am a real author, but the sad thing is that I have no idea about the field of publishing books, and I've never even met a literary agent.

I studied business administration and have mentors who help me develop myself and my company. Still, I did not have the slightest idea about the world of publishing because I am not an expert, and perhaps I thought of myself, "How can I become a writing expert if I can't even hand in a copy of a book?" Everything is interconnected in life, and life is balanced, so I take a different approach instead of giving up before I even begin.

Drawing on my business knowledge and skills, I began to organize a "sales list" of literary agents and publishers who might be able to provide me with insight. By creating a funnel very similar to my company's sales funnel line, I started reaching out to literary contacts individually. I used an email form that assured them I wasn't selling anything but was looking for information.

Many have rejected me, and, fortunately, only a few have accepted me, so I called these few and asked them a series of questions, and through these calls, I got a huge amount of data from them.

Though I still need to become a great author, I know how to read manuscripts after they're ready, and I now have direct contacts with literary agents and publishers. I may not have sold them over the phone, but I convinced them I was marketable.

I still have a lot of hard work ahead of me. If my past is any indication, a lot of failure and perseverance too, but thanks to that I know I can become an expert. Alsi, because I've connected with current experts, I'm well on my way to success in my passion. So, whatever goal you seek to achieve now, find someone smarter than you in the field you want, communicate with them, and accelerate your success.
