Ingredients for Genuine Wealth

It is easy to get caught up in the race for success in today's fast-paced world and forget the things that truly matter. The pursuit of wealth and professional success can often lead to neglecting one's health, relationships, and inner peace. In this article, the author reflects on the ingredients of success described in Robin Sharma's book, The Greatness Guide, and adds some of their own thoughts on the topic. The author emphasizes that true wealth and happiness come from a balance of seven key ingredients, including spiritual, physical, familial, professional, financial, experiential, and influential wealth. These ingredients are essential to creating a happy fulfilling life.

In his book "Shortcut for a Better Life", the writer Ziad Rayess mentions: We sometimes hear that such-and-such businessman has retired, and such-and-such factory owner is in a court battle with his brothers, while another person has distanced himself from his sons. This reminds me of some scenes from 45 years ago that I still remember, when we would see a man in his twenties with tattered clothes holding the hand of his fiancée, in her school uniform, on the old corniche. A rose seller tried to get them to buy a flower, which may have been worth as much as his dinner. They were exchanging glances as if the whole world was theirs. He walked her to the park to sit with her in the corner under a carob tree, perhaps to avoid others’ curiosity.

Today I noticed the categories that Robin Sharma uses for the ingredients of success in Chapter 71 of his book The Greatness Guide. I wanted to share them with you, with his permission, and add some of my own thoughts on the topic in general.

Building True Wealth: The 7 Essential Ingredients for a Fulfilling Life

1- Spiritual wealth:

This includes a positive mental attitude, spiritual peace, and internal calm; in other words, self-compassion. I think that a large part of this comes from a person’s internal conviction that they are interacting with a generous and merciful God. This is gained through making peace in the relationship between themselves and God.

2- Physical wealth:

I think that this ingredient is clear to everyone. There is no point in getting really far in your professional life if you’ve damaged your health to get there. What’s the point of being a successful businessman if you’re in a hospital wing? What’s the point of being the richest person on earth if you can’t eat what you want? There are many other examples of this. So we must be proactive in this area and make it a priority.

3- Familial and social wealth:

You can only have this if you’re in a family or social environment where affection, love, and intimacy abound, where you can celebrate every accomplishment with them and where each of them invigorates you, and vice versa. You need to have support in the form of advice and guidance from those who encourage you in your journey. They are your impenetrable fortress, guarding against anything that might hinder your development and audacity. So make sure that this ingredient is one of your top priorities.

4- Professional wealth:

It’s important for you to have ambitious professional goals and ambitions that you make progress toward day after day. These will give you a feeling of satisfaction and joy for what you’ve accomplished at each stage, as well as an appreciation for yourself. You must always recall that others have a share in every accomplishment; be conscious of the delight that comes from giving and making an impact on others.

5- Financial wealth:

Money is certainly important, but not the most important thing. It makes life easier, and spending on oneself or others really can play a role in your happiness. Enjoying your money comes from how you spend it, not how much of it you own. So take pleasure in spending wealth, not just amassing it…don’t deprive yourself of the pleasure of giving to others.

6- The Wealth of interesting experiences:

Having a spirit of creativity, renewal, adventure, and challenge will make you cheerful and happy. If you don’t have that spirit, you will have less experience, expertise, and excitement. The human mind can handle whatever it encounters. This is a real part of wealth and happiness that you can possess for yourself and those around you.

7- The Wealth of influence:

People are created to build a better world. But if people had no goal in life apart from this general task and nothing important happened in their lives within this message, they would always feel something lacking internally. But the more people progress and sense that they have accomplished something, the humbler they are internally. They sense that the world is now better than the one they were given, and that their mission in life is not over. This in itself is wealth and happiness.

So, if you don’t have one of the seven ingredients above for one reason or another, make sure not to lose the others. Create the wealth that gives you contentment, satisfaction, and happiness.
