3 Tips to Help You Develop Your Creative Abilities

Do you dream of being creative but believe you were born without this talent and will forever remain limited-minded? Or can you learn to come up with original ideas? Or do creative and unique activities such as drawing, music, and poetry? Or genius inventions? Then what about creativity that allows you to do a lot with small things?

Many people believe that they lack creativity and that there is no way to help them be creative, but the lack of creativity is mainly due to two reasons:

Reasons for lack of creativity

1. Community preparation

Others start teaching us from a young age what we should do, how we should live, and what is right and wrong.

We are taught to accept what others teach us. We are taught to follow the rules; we become so disciplined that we sometimes accept these things without explaining why. We are told to just do this or not to do that, we are told to accept these things without asking. In other words, we are rarely taught to think things for ourselves, nor are we actually taught how to act creatively, which is why most creative, free-spirited people take a lot of criticism because they dare to differ from others and think outside the box.

2. Self-beliefs that limit our abilities

This social upbringing prevents us from having the ability to engage in truly creative experiences, and the reason is that our thinking is very restricted and limited. When we think outside the box occasionally and try to be creative, the more we try or, the more we strive, the more our convictions increase that we are not creative people. Once this self-belief becomes entrenched, it becomes difficult to get rid of it, and we often give up on any attempt to do things creatively.

3 Tips to help you be a creative person

The experience of the writer "Diggy", owner of the blog "Upgradereality.com", can be an example of any person's ability to be creative. Diggy suffered from both social education and self-beliefs, that he became convinced that he was not creative. Although English was not his mother tongue, he had mastered it since he was six years old, and his grades in English were average. This led him to believe that he was not good at writing.

Therefore, he did not enjoy English classes or any other class related to literature. Still, things began to change for Diggy when he realized how much fun he had while writing. And he did not consider himself a great writer, but people really enjoyed what he posted and liked his writing style.

But the most beautiful thing about him is that he loves what he does, and he says that he is always trying to improve the quality of his writing by reading many wonderful blogs, knowing the styles of other writers, and asking for feedback from friends and readers regarding his writing. Also,  he shows that he gets ideas for his articles in unexpected places, sometimes while driving his car, in the grocery store, or in the shower. He has learned to write down these ideas as soon as they come to mind, making sure he does not forget them, and he always gets new ideas for new articles.

Of course, this is just an example. There are many other ways to be creative, and creativity applies to anything. The best part is that we can learn it.

1. Let go of any idea that you lack creativity

To be creative, you must get rid of the conviction according to which you believe that you lack creativity, never say any phrase that indicates that, and do not even think in this way, then get rid of every word, idea, or phrase that indicates that you are a person who lacks creativity.

2. Read and learn how others in the same field as you do their work

Start by researching what others in the same field as you are doing. Search the Internet, read books, and watch TV shows about what you want to do. The more you follow how others do your work, the more you understand how they think and how they come up with their innovative ideas.

3. Find a place where you feel comfortable and write down your thoughts

Find a place where you feel completely comfortable. This advice is very important to allow your mind to come up with new ideas, so write down these ideas as soon as you get them. You can always do this any time a new idea comes to you, either using paper and pen or applying the notes on your smartphone or tablet.

Try to write down some ideas every day, and do not rush to pass judgment on your ideas. What may seem like a silly idea to you at first, you may discover to be something very innovative later, so write down your ideas in all cases. This is because writing down ideas is a gradual process as you add new ideas or expand on the ideas that you wrote down last week.

Finally, keep reading and observing what people who work in the same field as you do and how they create. Find a comfortable place to write down your ideas, and continue this process daily, even a few ideas every day.

After a while, you will see amazing results, and it may take from a few weeks to a few months. But this is the training you need to become creative and remember that looking at things from a different perspective can greatly develop your creative abilities. So, be curious, and always question how other people do things.

Try to discover whether doing something differently will lead to better results. Stick to these tips, and you will undoubtedly become creative. Also, question how others do something and see if you can do the same thing differently with better results.
