Success is Not a Coincidence
Everyone wants to succeed, but not everyone can actually do that. Many people often ask successful individuals about the secrets to their success, but seldom do they realize the struggles and hard work that lie behind the glamor. In his book "Shortcut for a Better Life," Ziad Rayess talks about the factors that contribute to success. Additionally, he makes reference to several Thomas Curley studies that shed light on the traits that successful people have in common. This article aims to provide insights into the characteristics and habits of successful people.
The Habits and Characteristics of Successful People:
In his book "Shortcut for a Better Life", the writer Ziad Rayess mentions: Successful people in society are always in the spotlight and they are constantly asked why they’re successful. People always look at the sparkly exterior of fancy clothes and food, which give the appearance of comfort, without knowing the history of ordeals, patience, hard work, and repeated attempts that lie behind it.
The fact of the matter is that success - aside from God’s favor - has many causes, factors, and principles which you must live up to in order to gain success. I recently looked through some studies that discuss the shared characteristics and factors of successful (wealthy) people. These studies were conducted by Thomas Curley, who surveyed 177 wealthy people and found they do the following:
1. Wake up early:
Most of them share the quality of waking up early and making the most of the day.
2. Read daily:
88% of successful people allocate 30 minutes every day for reading biographies, personal development books, etc.
3. meditation:
Allocate time for meditation (15–20 minutes per day).
4. Stay healthy:
(76% of successful people allocate 30 minutes for physical exercise.)
5. Raise the spirit:
(Believe that you’re successful; this is connected to the type of people they interact with.)
6. Work on achieving personal dreams, not others’:
80% of wealthy people insist on achieving their dreams and know that reaching their goals is a gradual, day-to-day process.
7. Sleep well:
To care for your body, one must allocate enough rest (7–8 hours per night).
8. Create diverse sources of income:
Wealthy people diversify their income sources. (65% of them have diverse sources of income, the strongest of which is real estate.)
9. Not wasting time:
They give as much importance to time as to money, always scheduling appointments ahead of time. There is also an important set of other shared factors that are often discussed:
- They preserve moral values.
- They love every type of giving and want others to be successful.
- They tell others about their useful experiences.
- They’re always talking about their ideas, and they have a spirit of initiative.
- Patience, commitment, and consistency are some of their most important shared qualities.
Let us ask God for good favor and success for all.
Conclusion:
Success is not something that can be achieved overnight; it requires hard work, perseverance, and dedication. According to Thomas Curley's research, successful people share a number of traits and routines, including waking up early, reading every day, staying healthy, and creating diverse sources of income. They also have a positive outlook, believe in their dreams, and are always willing to help others. It is important to remember that success is not just about achieving materialistic goals but also about upholding moral values and helping others. So, let us strive to imitate the virtues of the successful and work to fulfill our dreams while staying true to our values.
