It is very easy to be the manager of an institution or to be the manager of a department, as you may possess those qualifications that make you a manager in the company or department, and you may enjoy the advantages of this job of a good monthly salary and good social value, whether at work or in your social environment.

However, it is important to ask yourself this question: Can you be that leader and not the manager? There is a big difference between them. Do you have those qualifications that make your employees or even the people around you look at you as a leader?

1- Break the ice between you and those below you in the job:

This is done by following several methods and ways, namely:

  • Get to know their names and call them out, for the name has a hidden effect in the soul of the caller and makes one feel that they are important in your eyes.
  • Ask them questions and discuss their opinions, and do not stick to your opinion, and impose your opinion on them.
  • Share the success with them and make them feel that they created it with you and that they are an integral part of you at work.
  • Find out about their problems and their own life aspirations outside of work, and try to offer honest help and advice.
  • Give them permanent reassurances about their future with you and that the next is definitely better.

Of course, there are lots and many ways, which there is no room to mention, but I have summarized for you, dear reader, some of the most important ones that are used in major successful companies and institutions.

2- Be brave in front of them:

To be an inspiring leader, have the courage and stay big in their eyes. This is done through the following:

  • If you have a problem, be brave and ask for their help. It will not reduce your value.
  • If you do not know something or it is difficult for you, have the courage and ask those who specialize in them, as one may have a solution.
  • Take responsibility for your wrong decisions at work and make them feel that you bear this mistake and do not blame it on them.
  • Be brave to apologize if you have wronged someone because an apology does not diminish your prestige, but rather expresses your high morals. 

To be a brave leader and manager means that you possess the hearts and minds, and this leads to creativity in work, dedication to it and providing everything that is good for the institution.

3- Be ahead:

The feeling of your employees or your subordinates that you are at the top of success and that you got here through hard work and constant struggle gives them confidence, and that you are a living example of people who struggled and got what they wanted. 

4- Develop your skills constantly and never stop:

Intellectual skills and intelligence are a gift given to you by God, but they are very important that you continue to develop these skills by working to see everything that is new in the world of dealing, negotiation and modern management, as this increases your confidence as a leader in yourself and enhances the confidence of others in you.

5- Move yourself away from routine and stereotypes: 

As a leader in your work and home, you must be careful to stay away from the unpleasant routine, as after a period of time everyone becomes familiar with you and you turn into a person who is expected to act. Accordingly, it is necessary to move away from this stereotyped model through the following: 

  • Searching for sources of variation that you should follow through looking for and in-depth research on modern leadership methods.
  • Removing the previous mistakes in your dealings and not making them again.
  • Work on finding new opportunities within your business or even your home.
  • Working on raising new issues for discussion.
  • Expanding your circle of contacts. For example, if you deal with employees at work, it is good to break this routine and visit someone at home or invite everyone to go out on a trip.
