How Can You Achieve Success Without Any Sacrifice?
The definition of success varies from person to person, but what is not disputed by two is that achieving success is not easy. Even with a simple definition that determines a person's success by being able to live life the way they want, success in this sense still requires hard work.
Note: This article is based on writer Darius Foroux. It talks about the correct concept of sacrifice for success.
Every person who seeks to live a good life knows this fact, but the concept of sacrifice is often raised when talking about success, as most people claim that success requires the sacrifice of many things.
This belief involves some recklessness. No matter what you try to achieve in life, but under normal circumstances you should not sacrifice anything. You may think at first glance that hard work means to sacrifice all the other things you want to do, but the American writer Tony Robbins corrects this belief and says, "If you think it is a sacrifice, don't make it".
No one can deny Tony's success in achieving his goals, his perseverance in setting more goals, and his ability to achieve them and even great charitable goals. When I started my self-development journey, I thought that I should sacrifice many things, such as:
- Going out for fun on the weekend.
- Spending money on useless things.
- Taking time off for travel and recreation.
- Not being able to miss a day without reading.
- The inability to abandon a positive mindset.
When you think about it that way, you're going to feel like you're sacrificing a lot of things in life, but this is the wrong way to look at things. It's wrong because when you think you're sacrificing something for success, you 're exposing yourself to frustration and resentment, and the goal that was supposed to make you happy becomes one of the things that makes you unhappy all the time.
It's not a sacrifice, but rather it is prioritization:
I live by a simple principle which is: If it is a sacrifice I will not do it. So, I see everything in life as an option without anyone forcing me to do anything, even the hard work I have done with conviction. Here are some facts to which this rule applies:
- You are not sacrificing your free time, but you are investing your time to become better at your profession.
- You don't sacrifice fun and amusement, but you get smarter by reading a book.
- You are not sacrificing your annual leave, but you are seeking further progress.
Of course, anyone needs a break. In fact, I believe that breaks are necessary to enhance productivity. However, what we're talking about is the lifestyle you choose, and if it helps you achieve your goals or not. When you change your mindset from "sacrifice" to "choice", you rearrange your priorities. So, you will not care what you miss in life, and your focus will remain on the progress you achieve.
Our belief that we sacrifice in order to succeed comes from our natural tendency to compare our lives with the lives of others, otherwise how did you form this conviction that you sacrificed something in your life? It's shaped by comparing your life and what you have with the lives of others and what they own.
Do not look for balance between personal life and work:
One of the difficulties that also obstructs us is that we still believe in the idea of achieving a balance between personal life and work. To clarify this, we will say that we work to live a decent life, and we all work more than 9 hours a day, which means that we spend most of our time working or going to work. That is, your work is your life.
I am always surprised when I hear people talk about work and life as two separate parts, simply because your job is you and you are the center of your life, and this is only an abstract truth that should neither make us happy nor frustrated.
So, if you're looking to succeed, you have to choose a career that fits your goals, lifestyle, and strengths; That is, you need a job to enjoy, but you may wonder how I can get a job without worrying about balancing work and personal life?
The answer that everyone may not like is that you should pay attention to learning at the expense of pleasure, always seek to develop your skills and improve your work, discover your strengths, and then work in an area where you achieve excellence, and then you become part of the influential minority in this field.
In conclusion:
Giving importance to learning at the expense of pleasure means that you always prefer to work on improving your skills rather than going out and hanging out with friends, which is not a sacrifice, but it is a wise decision.
