7 Things you can do to transform your life in seven days

1. Promote happiness by carefully choosing your words

Happiness is merely a state of the mind, so it is not true that thinking about happiness will help us recover from the pain of a sudden loss or misfortune; rather, we are discussing levels of happiness on ordinary days when our life circumstances are as close to normal as possible. During such times when there is neither excessive happiness nor sadness, even small changes in one's attitude toward the events of his life can have a significant impact on happiness.

The way we choose to express ourselves is one of the key elements influencing our attitude. Effectiveness and influence on the speaker and the listener are qualities that define words. Unintentionally using words that are unpleasant and frustrating during speech can give the impression that the speaker is unhappy and negative toward others. Even worse, as soon as they say them, their subconscious mind starts to accept them as truth.

We must be conscious of the fact that the first words that come to mind do not always accurately convey our feelings and intentions. We must also be aware that we have the power to choose the words we use and that when we do so correctly, our feelings may change. We illustrate this concept with the following:

When I ask someone how they are, the typical response is, "I'm fine." However, one of my coworkers responded to me last week that he is very happy, and his response immediately made me feel better. I then asked him why he was so happy, and he said that his health and his family were among the reasons. He also said that he was content to live in his country and that he had no reason to be sad. The difference between him and others seems to be in his attitude and choice of words. It's likely that his circumstances are not necessarily easier or better than others, but he appeared much happier many times over.

I was intrigued by the concept when I suddenly realized that I could choose to focus on the positive or negative aspects of various situations. Gratitude and joy overcame me as I realized that, thank God, I had never experienced any unfortunate events that had disrupted my life.

Therefore, whenever someone asks me how I am, I immediately respond with "I'm very happy," "Everything in my life is going great," or any other similar statement expressing happiness and optimism. Since I have made these responses a habit, many of my friends and acquaintances have noticed a positive shift in my perspective on circumstances in general. I have also noticed that the people around me have become happier as a result, which means that this behavior is probably contagious.

2. Try new things and accept the discomfort that comes with them

"It is better to go beyond your comfort zone," American author and speaker Brian Tracy once remarked. "You will not advance in life unless you are prepared for the feelings of alienation and discomfort that accompany new experiences."

It is necessary to step outside of your comfort zone, even for a brief period in the beginning, in order to make positive changes in your life because the uncomfortable nature of the change process frequently prevents taking meaningful action and, as a result, no progress is made in one's life.

You can expand your comfort zone and hone your creative skills in both your personal and professional lives by trying more experiments. Instead of believing that you are not capable of change and consequently feeling alienated from yourself, you can control the process of change by consciously creating new habits.

In contrast to new experiences that aid in our further development and enrich our lives, fixed life patterns impede our progress. As a result, we advise you to try something new every day for the next week. The experience doesn't have to be a brand-new endeavor; for example, it's fine to just strike up a conversation with a total stranger.

You will undoubtedly have life-changing opportunities as a result of these new experiences, and a strategy for navigating them by taking small, sequential steps can assist one in getting past the fear barrier that prevents positive change.

3. Use your skills to help others

Each of us has innate skills and abilities that can benefit those around us. This is because what you excel at may be difficult for them, but we are unable to see the services we can provide to them by using our skills, so we rarely share them. Inner joy and enthusiasm result from the regular use of these innate abilities.

It is advisable to consider the help you typically give to others and are required to give on a regular basis. You should set aside some time each day to share your talents with others. The majority of people's passions and talents involve helping others in some way, whether it be through teaching, cooking, or drawing.

4. Allocate time for pursuits that ignite your passion

A person should partake in pursuits that demonstrate their intellectual convictions, such as participating actively in local government or joining social clubs that promote issues they support. Hobbies are great ways to find passion in life.

The same principles apply to your work and profession as they do to the activities that many people engage in to give their lives purpose and happiness. This is due to the fact that determination and focus by themselves are insufficient to lead to success and happiness. While focus is important, it is ineffective when you encounter more challenges and obstacles when you delve into a particular field. It should be noted that these challenges will not withstand you when there is passion, so you must make a living by doing work that makes you happy.

When you put your passion into your work, you gain self-satisfaction on the one hand and the necessary will to urge you to carry out your plan, no matter how uncertain the future seems and the actual outcome is completely unknown on the other. When life's circumstances are difficult, passion can also alter your life and give you the motivation you need to move toward your goal.

5. Make small, positive changes on a daily basis

By dividing large goals into smaller, more manageable steps, big goals can be accomplished. The same holds true for making life changes. An effective way to liven up your life is to make small, positive changes, such as improving your productivity habits or eating healthily.

When you start working on simple tasks, you will not need much enthusiasm. Rather, just getting started will give you the motivation you need, and you will find yourself rising from one constructive change to another without stopping.

6. Accept the lesson learned when you fail, cheer up, and try again

The brilliant person in life has the ability to create their own happiness and the will to succeed; in addition to that, they do not stop being optimistic, no matter how bad the conditions are, because failure is an opportunity to achieve development and gain more life experiences, and optimists see countless opportunities in life, especially in difficult times.

It can be said that life is like a comprehensive learning experience based on all the events and people you meet, the problems you face, and other lessons imposed by our existence in life. So don't lose sight of these lessons, especially when things go wrong. For example, if your relationship fails or you lose the job opportunity you wanted, this means that there are more opportunities ahead of you, and you should start looking for them by applying the lesson you just learned from your failed experience.

It is better to adopt positive thinking because it is essential to achieving success in any experiment, and you must believe in your ability to do the task in order to be able to actually implement it.

When wild animals are caught and placed in cages, they do their best to get out throughout the first weeks and months, and you see them investing every opportunity to free themselves. But after several years of imprisonment inside cages, these animals lose their desire for freedom, and even if the cage door is left open, they will not run away, and they won't even try because they accepted their situation and gave up their natural instinct and their desire for freedom again.

Likewise, the human mind can be subject to restrictions and loss of desire and initiative to succeed and achieve important achievements in life. For a moment, you may think that your past determines your future and restricts your progress, and that your failed experiences obligate you to fail in your next project. You may accept your inevitable destiny and refrain from trying again.

Never think that your mindset in the past determines your future because you can control your reality however you want, so your current way of thinking imposes the level and limits of the achievements that you can achieve. This is why you have to adopt a positive outlook on things and continue your progress through difficult times in order to ensure success and enjoy the greatest moments of your life.

7. Pay attention and enjoy the present

There is no harm in looking forward to future events and seeing the upcoming fun events on our agendas, but the problem in this case is that we live in a constant state of anticipation of what is coming without allocating the minimum amount of time to enjoy the events of the present time. The Vietnamese author and poet Thich Nhat Hanh expresses the idea by saying:

"I have a friend in the USA called Jim Forest. He was working with a world organization when I met him eight years ago. Jim came to visit me last winter. It is my habit to wash the dishes after dinner and before sitting down to have tea with others. One evening Jim asked me to do the task of washing the dishes, so I told him to do it if he knew how to wash. He was only surprised by my answer and asked me in turn, ‘Do you think I don’t know how to wash the dishes?’ I replied, ‘There are two ways to wash dishes. The first requires you to wash the dishes clean, and the second requires you to focus your attention on the washing process.’ My friend was delighted at my answer and told me that he would choose the second method, so I entrusted him with the task for a whole week.”

When we think only of the next dish to be washed, rush to finish all the dishes, and consider the task troublesome, then we do not apply the second method of washing. This means that we do not notice the washing process in its actual time, and this applies to all our actions. So we drink tea and think about other things so much that we do not realize we have a cup of tea in our hands. We are always preoccupied with the future and unable to live in the present.

I've been watching the Academy Awards for a while now, and I've realized that most of the speeches actors and actresses give while receiving an award are something like this: "This award means a lot to me, and my whole life's experiences have led me to this moment." The truth is that one's entire life leads them to every moment of their life, which means all the successes and failures that you have experienced in your life have led you to this moment in your life.

You have to think about how you live and focus your attention on the present and what is happening in it in order to live your life to the fullest.
