5 Ways To Let Go of Limiting Beliefs

Our beliefs influence our lives more than we realise, whether we like it or not. However, some of them are just excuses we make up in most aspects of our lives. Regarding our health, we use the excuse that we lack the time and energy to exercise.

When it comes to our relationships, we use our busyness at work as an excuse, which prevents us from building the relationships we really want. When it comes to our financial condition, we use the excuse that we lack business experience or capital, which prevents us from investing.

Ways to get rid of limiting beliefs

Here are five effective ways to get rid of them:

1. Change your way of thinking

In each of the above cases, our limiting beliefs always lead to the same results, which increases our faith in them. Thus, they continue to limit us and limit our abilities. The simplest way to change our beliefs is to change the way of thinking that leads us to undesirable results in the first place.

When we notice a change in results, we realise that changing our ways of thinking can change our lives.

2. Visualize what you want to achieve

It's easy to say that we can change outcomes simply by changing our thoughts. However,  how can we improve our thoughts if we have difficulty believing in these new ideas? In this case, we encounter a contradiction between what we think and what we believe, and in the end, our beliefs trump what we want to think.

Imagination is the solution. Imagination acts as a bridge between what we are in our current circumstances and what we could be in different circumstances and allows us to move from our reality to where we want. So, when you imagine the results you want daily, your thinking gradually changes over time, and soon, what was previously impossible becomes possible.

You begin to feel satisfied because, in your imagination, you are the person you want to be, and this feeling of contentment pushes you to strive for what you want, even if it seems unattainable and impossible. Over time, you will begin to believe in what is impossible. Also, if you leave your imagination dissatisfied, likely, what you want is not suitable for you. It's that simple.

Everyone believes in the necessity of thinking logically, and we tend to believe that thinking based on our feelings is illogical or rational. Still, when you can balance logic, rationality, and feeling satisfied together, you are moving in the right direction.

3. Change your point of view

If what you want still seems impossible in any way, try to change your perspective. Also, ask yourself what someone who has what you want or did what you are striving to achieve would do if they were in your place, and then start acting according to their example.

Above all, be brave, accept failure, and keep trying, as you will likely fail hundreds of times before you find success. Knowing the dead ends is no less important than knowing the paths that lead to success.

In the end, we learn much more from our mistakes than we learn from success, and over time, you will strengthen your intuition that results from experience and knowledge. The only way to gain experience and knowledge that strengthens your intuition is to continue trying new things.

4. Meditate daily

Meditation helps you accept the thoughts you have without criticising them. No idea or belief can influence us unless we believe in it. However, meditation is used for another purpose. It builds willpower, which is like a muscle we must constantly exercise to become stronger. When we build solid willpower, we can focus more and more on what we want, which motivates us to change the course of things for the better every day.

When we imagine what we want, we also change our views, which helps us discover how to make what we want possible. This is because in our imagination, we continue to see what we want as if we have already achieved it, and we convince our minds of that. Then, with time, we begin to build what is known as future memory, which is our memories that occur in the future. That is, the memories we form when we think about our future selves and ask what we did to get to that place. Also, by returning to our current reality, we begin to do and experience these things.

5. Combining the previous points

If you are not satisfied with the direction of your life, start by considering the results you are getting, and then change the way you think to change those results. However, changing your way of thinking is challenging because our thinking comes mainly from the thinking patterns and mechanisms of the people we come into contact with. So, we need to be creative in our imagination to see what we want, even if it seems impossible in our current circumstances.

It is often necessary to change your point of view using your imagination. When you begin to feel satisfied with what you see in your imagination, know that it is what really suits you. So, you are moving in the right direction.

This positive feeling will play an effective role when you meditate and train yourself to imagine what you want, which drives you to strive. When you can finally believe in yourself, you will begin to take effective action towards what you want, and over time, you will begin to get rid of your limiting beliefs. Even if you repeatedly fail to reach what you want, you build knowledge and experience that refines your intuition.
