Why is Taking Action Difficult?

There are certain occasions that make you think about your past, such as birthdays, anniversaries, new years, and other important events that make you think about them.

When you think about all the things that have happened in your life since the last event, you may notice that they have begun to merge. That is, you feel that things that happened a year or more ago had happened yesterday.

At the beginning of the new year, people around the world, including me, think about the past year, and make plans for the coming year, but one of the biggest mistakes that is often made is setting a big goal or committing to taking a big risk that you will start doing later.

There's basically nothing wrong with "later", but you have to prioritize your life and there are some things that don't suit you now. However, as you get older, it becomes more difficult to do something later because it's about human psychology and our experience with time.

The year is always 365 days, but as you get older, each year gets shorter than the last. I'm going to talk about what I mean by that and what you can do about it.

The year for the life of a child and his grandfather:

I'm going to talk about a kid named Timmy and his grandfather. Timmy was five years old, and his biggest wish was to go to Disneyland. This idea has been in his head since he was four and a half years old, and he waited until his birthday to ask to go.

His grandfather heard that Timmy wanted to go to Disneyland, so he decided to take him there, but the time was not right because Timmy had some important tests at school, and the grandfather had some projects he should be working on. So, the grandfather put on a nice card for Timmy and a package full of pictures of the City of Games that read, "I promise you, we will go to Disneyland next year".

However, when Timmy read his grandfather's words, he was completely shocked because he felt that it would take a very long time for him to come next year, but the grandfather was confused as for him, next year is very close. Both Timmy and his grandfather have very different perspectives. Timmy is only five years old, and for him, his request to wait for a year is similar to his request to wait for life.

On the other hand, the grandfather is sixty years old, he has lived much longer than Timmy, and for him to wait for a year is easy and not long, as he feels like he can take a nap and wake up next year.

Be wise as an old man and impatient as a young child:

It is said: "Young people are lost in the age of youth." As you get older, it becomes easier to discover the mistakes that young people make as they learn to deal with the world, and you may wish you could go back a little bit in your life and live it again, but this time with all the knowledge you have gained over the years. Living in the past wasted all the opportunities that pass you  faster  as you get older.

Young people don't get lost in the age of young people. Regardless of your age, there is an important lesson you can learn from young people who can help you achieve your dreams, which is to ease your patience, but apply this lesson to the years of wisdom you have struggled to reach, and be patient only when necessary.

One of the tragedies of life is that the patience of young people runs out quickly when they have a full age to discover things, and older people grow impatient when there is no room for life. Patience is a virtue in many cases, and it must be shown in order not to react unnecessarily in certain cases.

However, when you have something big and important, and you have to do it, patience will push you to postpone it until it's too late. These things take time, and time is passing at a tremendous pace, so when it comes to your dreams and goals and the risks you want to take, be as wise as an old man, and as impatient as a young child.
