Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah bin Abdul Latif Al Mubarak is one of the most prominent economic figures in the Arab world in general and Saudi Arabia in particular. He held many important positions in the Kingdom, including Minister of State, a member of the Council of Ministers, a member of the Shura Council, and many other positions. He studied in the United States of America and graduated from it in several majors, and within a short period of time, he was able to establish a respectable reputation in the Saudi economic and political world. Who is Fahd bin Abdullah Al-Mubarak?

Dr. Fahd was born in Saudi Arabia in 1955 and belongs to the Al Sheikh Mubarak family. He grew up in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and completed his studies in its schools until high school. Later, he decided to move to the United States of America, where he completed his university education, specifically at Southern Methodist University in Dallas. 

He studied there and graduated in 1981 with a bachelor's degree in the field of "Civil Engineering" and completed his postgraduate studies at the same university, obtaining a master's degree in the field of industrial engineering. Dr. Fahd devoted most of his life to science and the various disciplines and academic qualifications he obtained during his studies in the United States of America.

One of the most important practical qualifications that the doctor obtained was a doctorate in business administration (operation and production) from the University of Houston, which he obtained in 1991. He also obtained a master's degree in accounting and taxation in 1989. The following year, he obtained A master's degree in business administration.

Fahd’s Greatest Achievements:

The positions held by Dr. Fahd varied greatly. This is according to the multiplicity of certificates he held and the specializations he studied. He started his career in the early nineties, specifically in 1992, as General Manager of Rana Investment Company. He continued in his position until 1999. After he proved his worth in this field, he became a member of the Saudi Shura Council and at the same time was the vice president of Energy Affairs and the Economic Committee, and that was between 1999-2005. He also served as the Chairman of the Administrative Board of "Tadawul", which is the primary and main market in which all shares are traded within the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.

He was appointed between 2011-2016 as governor of the Saudi Central Bank, which was previously known as the "Saudi Monetary Agency". In January of the year 2021, a decision was issued to reappoint him as governor of the bank again, and in the year 2017, King Salman bin Abdulaziz issued a royal decree appointing him as an advisor in the Royal Court as a minister, and he also served as a member of the Council of Ministers and Minister of State from December of the year 2018 until January of the year 2021. Besides, Dr. Fahd holds the position of Secretary-General in the Saudi Secretariat of the G20. In January 2021, Dr. Fahd bin Abdullah bin Abdul Latif Al Mubarak was appointed as governor of the "Central Bank of Saudi Arabia" by a royal order issued by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz.

Other Positions He Held:

  • He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Palestinian Arab Investment Company and that was between the years (1995-2000).
  • He held the position of a member of the management of Al-Malaz Company (2000-2002).
  • He was a board member of the Saudi company "Sabil", which specializes in basic industries.
  • He served as a member of the Board of Directors of Al-Alamiya Insurance for one year.
  • He held a position in the Saudi Stanley Company between the years (2005-2011), and the Saudi Carrefour Company, a private one-stop shop.
  • He was a member of the Board of Directors of the Telecommunications Company and Etihad (Mobily) for 7 years, starting in 1998.
  • He was a board member of the Saudi Hollandi Bank.
  • He was part of the team that specialized in negotiating with local and international oil companies for gas projects inside the Kingdom in the year 2000.
