Returning to the Field of Happiness

Life is a journey full of challenges and setbacks that can take away the happiness we had planned for ourselves. However, since they are a universal law of humanity, facing these challenges is normal. It is crucial to know that happiness is not a permanent state, but there are steps we can take to get back on track. These steps include being compassionate towards ourselves and coexisting with events and circumstances. One of the most important steps is to believe, and understand the concepts of fate, submission, and acceptance. In this article, we will discuss some important methods that can help us get back on track and become happier people.

In his book "Shortcut for a Better Life", the writer Ziad Rayess mentions: People go through many challenges and setbacks in their daily lives, which take away the happiness they planned for themselves. This is normal, a law of humanity. Happiness isn’t permanent, but there are many steps that you can take to get back on track, including being compassionate toward yourself and coexisting with whatever events and circumstances might come up. One of the most important steps is to believe in God and His plan and the concepts of fate, submission, and acceptance.

But you must choose the degree of happiness you want and return to it by using behaviors, practices, and daily mental adjustments that will help change your life. You must be alert and observant, recalling the basic methods that will get you back on track in your way of thinking and daily practices. This will greatly increase your happiness.

Some of these methods are:

  1. You must write out the reason behind your behaviors and your reactions when you face a setback or challenge in your daily life.
  2. Know that life is short.
  3. Always nourish your mind with something positive and powerful.
  4. Get moving and visit new places outside of your normal surroundings.
  5. Know where you want to go.

In the same context, you must always go back to the main steps in your life plan:

  1. Set a goal and a timeline to achieve it.
  2. Write out a roadmap to get there and continuously revise and correct it.
  3. You have to be committed, determined, and patient.
  4. Enjoy the partial successes you achieve along the way.

Most importantly, your goal must be compatible with the divine task given to all people: worshipping Almighty God and building a better world.

Australian nurse Bronnie Ware worked in a hospital clinic for many years with patients who had no hope of living. Before they died, she listened to their wishes and regrets, and wrote a book titled The Top Five Regrets of the Dying.

Some of the main points are:

1. They regretted thinking and worrying about other people’s opinions:

They wished they had had the courage to live the life they wanted for themselves, not the life that other people wanted for them. A wise person once said, “People lose half their lives worrying about what other people expect, then realize that no one was paying attention in the first place.”

2. They regretted not expressing their emotions out of fear of making other people mad:

They lived negative, soulless lives, staying silent and not saying what they really felt.

3. They regretted not realizing that they had the power to be happy, and happiness wasn’t tied to an external event:

They delayed their happiness, waiting for something to happen, but happiness is an internal decision.

4. They regretted wasting their lives chasing money:

They wished they hadn’t lost the chance to spend time with their parents in their last moments or share happy moments with their children, even if they had missed all that under the pretext of making a living. They also wished that they had preserved their friendships.

5. They regretted not being adventurous or bold in chasing their dreams:

Years slipped through their fingers without them realizing that their dreams remained dreams and had not turned into accomplishments. They gave too much weight to their problems.

So, live as you want to, not as people around you would like. Pleasing God is enough. Express how you feel without fear of anyone. Never put off your happiness, as this is within your control. Live with people you love, don’t waste your opportunities, and don’t give too much weight to your problems.
