Hey, Google, Who’s Larry Page?
When I try to think of an inspirational success story, I can’t help but think of Larry Page and his rise to the status he’s at right now. A dedicated genuine and smart person who dreams big and knows how to hustle his way to where he wants to be. As described by him best, the chances of achieving big dreams are greater than small ones because there aren't enough crazy people to do it, so there will be little competition. In fact, there are only a few crazy people in this world, and he knows them all because he is definitely one of them. Now allow me to introduce you to the beautiful mind of Larry Page.
Early Beginning & Upbringing:
Born in a very fertile environment on March 26, 1973, Larry's parents were both professors of computer science and computer programming. He came to this world to find himself in a household full of technology, science, and computer magazines, as well as a lot of first-generation personal computers which Larry immersed himself in and took a very high interest in. He went on to go through his primary years at a Montessori school and graduated later from East Lansing high school. After that, he was an honors student at the University of Michigan. During his time there, he joined his peers in the solar car team of the University due to its relatability to his lifelong dream of developing sustainable transportation technology. After receiving his bachelor’s degree in computer engineering, he studied computer science at Stanford University in California. And there was the first time that he started working on the linkage between websites on the world wide web. Also, it was the place where he met his partner, Sergey Brin.
Along Came Sergey:
Back then, the world wide web was on its way to becoming one of the major tools for telecommunication. Larry was starting to think of a way to start showing results on search engines according to the popularity and the frequency of the word that’s being searched. Consequently, the first few results would be the most useful ones. So, he recruited his mate Sergey and set off to work together. They rented out a garage and started developing the search engine that they later decided to name Google, which refers to the math term googol which is the number one followed by one hundred zeros. This name expressed their mission of organizing a huge amount of information on the web. After their work was done, in 1998, they were ready to launch Google with the financial aid of family, friends, and investors who all deeply believed in them. The cost was a total of one million dollars. Ever since then, Google has become one of the largest and most important search engines in the world receiving 5.9 billion searches a day according to estimations made in 2013.
Google’s Greatest Hits:
Throughout the years, Google managed to create a lot of highly successful projects that helped the world and helped the company grow bigger and bigger over time. These hard workers set to work immediately, and they were able to map 28 million miles in 194 countries across the globe since 2005. Google maps managed to become an essential part of people’s lives to a point where some would find it hard to wrap their heads around the fact that it didn’t exist before 2005.
