5 Tips to Invest Your Time Wisely

Here are some ideas and tips related to time management, and this is a list of a set of tips that you should take into account in order to invest your time and make the most of it:

Note: This article is based on the work of American writer and entrepreneur Jim Rohn, who shares his most important tips for managing time and investing it wisely to achieve everything we aspire to in life.

Control Your Day, Or It Will Control You

Maintaining control over the events of your day and managing them well is part of the key to managing time, but what usually happens is that we start doing something. We are completely in control of it, but we lose control and supervision over it over time, and the events of the day gradually unfold. It's like managing your own business and projects, if you don't take the initiative, the workflow will start to control you. So you should pause now and then to ask yourself who is managing your life and your time.

The phrase: “Some people are made to become kings while others become slaves” is worth remembering because this is nature and the way of life. So, you must make sure that you become a master of the course of events in your time, manage your day well, and always remain in control. To be able to control and manage the course of events well, you must carry your set of written goals with you at all times.

So arrange your goals in order of importance and prioritize them, review them frequently, make them part of your well-formulated business plan, and try to separate the major essentials from the minor and unimportant things. The significant things from what you must do, just put your business plan in hand and then set your priorities. A little thought will save you a lot of time to invest in more important things.

You should also define the importance of your day and classify it between major and important or minor days at the beginning, and the same applies to the conversations you have with those around you. You have to determine its importance and categorize it as essential or insignificant and minor before you spend time doing it.

So, adjust your time accordingly, not many people succeed in this part, and this is due to them giving great importance to secondary and insignificant matters and spending a lot of time doing things of no value and a little time on crucial matters that they should take good care of.

Invest Your Time

Do Not Confuse Busyness with Achievement

You may know some people around you who are busy just being busy without getting any important things done, so you have to be busy with increasing your productivity and accomplishments. And to understand that, think of a man who comes home at night and sits slack on his couch complaining of his fatigue because of the effort he puts in and his work and movement throughout the day.

But what we must ask is what he did and accomplished in the course of his work during the day. Some people are constantly on the move and exerting effort and energy to find that they do not make any progress or achievements.

So, don't confuse busyness with achievement, re-evaluate the precious hours during your days and see if there is a lot of wasted time that you can manage better.

Focus on What You Are Doing in the Moment

Focus on the work at hand and not start your working day thinking about work until you get to work. I used to start my work day in the bathroom, and I'd try to compose letters in the shower when I wasn't quite awake yet, and I've found that things don't work out that way. So you should wait until you reach your office to start your work, and not to start thinking about the work day at the breakfast table, for example, it is not suitable for your family, it is also not very productive.

So focus on driving your car on your way to work, showering while you're in the bathroom, and focus on your family members and chatting with them while you sit at the breakfast table. Wherever you go, be there and not somewhere else, pay attention to everything you do and the people around you, and focus on where you are in every moment.

Learn to Say No

In a society like ours, it's easy to say "Yes" a lot and over-commit yourself, and then take a long time to withdraw from it. So do not rush to say “Yes” to everyone who asks you for a favor or a service. It is better and more kind to say “No” and express your inability to do what is asked of you than to return on your promise later, as your eagerness to please others may be too dangerous for your time and duties. So, you have to value yourself, your time, and your limits and prioritize them.

A colleague of mine has a good saying, "Don't let your mouth weigh down your back," so value your time with yourself, your loved ones, and the people who love you.

This is especially important when it comes to charitable work as there is a group of entrepreneurs that I know who are very successful in terms of their own business, they are mentioned a lot by the press, they give many interviews, and they are overwhelmed with requests to set up free non-profit businesses, and they must get a couple offers a month to sit on a charitable board of directors or something.

I'll tell you how they handle it as they take all their applications, evaluate them in terms of time and capacity, and then vote collectively to decide which two offers they will accept over the next year.

You cannot directly agree to all offers that appear luxurious and prestigious, nor can you directly agree to social activities offered, even if they seem very interesting.  You have to answer with “maybe” and evaluate what is important to you, what will waste your time and distance you from your family and your ambitions.

Be eager and excited to please yourself and your family, not to please everyone, and appreciate the limits of your possibilities and your circumstances. You should not fill every second of your day with work, but take time to appreciate what you have accomplished and enjoy the fruits of your work.

Appreciate the Little Details and Be Grateful for Them

The success that you achieve should represent pleasure for you and give you happiness and pleasure. It is essential to appreciate what you have obtained and accomplished, as well as evaluate your growth after success and experiences. It is an essential ingredient in fueling your future accomplishments, and just knowing that you have finished everything you started on that day should be encouraging and motivating, as it is the daily small profits and gains that continue to fuel your achievements.

Let's say tonight you are going to draw up your business plan for tomorrow that seems very simple, all you write for tomorrow is the word "cleaning day," and to achieve that, get rid of all the small notes on your desk, and write all the thank-you notes that you didn't have the time or opportunity to write throughout the week, and make some of the phone calls that you shied away from and avoided from day to day, for although they are small and minor matters, they burden you and exhaust you until you complete them.
