3 Doubts You Should Eliminate
Accept that you won't always find the best solution, but taking action will be better than not doing your job.
Doubt is very hurtful, as it can drain your life and destroy your success. Even in your most successful moments, you will experience self-doubt, as the impostor syndrome is widespread among many entrepreneurs.
But as a life coach, I have more than a decade of experience in this field, and I have noticed three main ways entrepreneurs allow their doubts to control them and prevent them from taking the necessary actions in their professional and personal lives. Here are three feelings through which doubt can find its way to you and some suggested solutions that can help you overcome it and move forward.
Three feelings through which doubt can find its way to you:
1. The more you know, the less you know:
Sometimes you feel ignorant, especially when you are not familiar with the nature of the strategies and steps you need to apply to overcome the challenge in your way. You are even ignorant of the source from which you can get answers to your questions, which makes you feel completely helpless.
About a year ago, I was in total chaos, frustrated, and unsure I could overcome it. I knew I was suffering from depression, but I didn't understand what I felt emotionally. In the meantime, I was trying to balance all my usual responsibilities, which critically impacted me and my work.
The real problem then was that I didn't know how to get rid of those thoughts, so I started to have the following questions: How can one overcome depression? What process does it need to achieve this? What are the strategies for this? How would I know? That's when I started looking for answers.
I told myself that I was progressing by getting to know all the answers, sequences, processes, and possible outcomes. Still, in the search for the perfect solution or advice I needed, I found myself stuck in another predicament rather than just doing something that could get me going.
“The more you know, the less you know” is an important fact. Looking for wisdom and knowledge in others is always a good idea, but if you feel helpless, sometimes looking for the answer can be a reason to take no action.
The truth is that you have more than enough knowledge to take the first step, and any action you take in the future is an experiment to help you develop and gain experience.
2. Courage keeps doubt to a minimum:
Like all of us, pioneers suffer from many fears, especially those related to making mistakes and facing rejection. Sometimes, they fear the time necessary to obtain active results that can be shown to others to prove their success. In a world where everyone is looking for what gives them rapid pleasure, we do not want to do what takes a lot of time or makes us feel the suffering of making progress.
In my personal experience, things seemed fine, but they were very chaotic, and I was afraid to ask for help and support. Still, when I started talking about what was going on with me in public, I feared not only admitting my mistakes but also that I needed support.
But once I decided to take part, it became easier and faster, and I gained enough understanding about what I needed to do to improve my professional and personal life, especially considering the views of those who are knowledgeable and want to help.
3. Eliminate suspicion by fighting laziness:
Most people suffer from laziness, but laziness is a very deceptive experience, and you are probably reading it now and saying to yourself: "I am not lazy; I work hard, you smart-ass." However, laziness is not a measure of how challenging your work is. I am sure many of you work hard, but it does not mean you do not want to do something new but can not move forward.
Laziness is a by-product of rest. If you doubt yourself, you get used to the pain you are feeling now or the fear you have always known, and you will prefer to live with what you know rather than adventure what you do not know. It may seem exhausting to try to change things and adventure, even if you know that the best in your life awaits you on the other side.
You know that you need to lose weight and that the gym is around, but you are comfortable. However, the only thing you avoid doing is the only thing that will help you, so what can you do instead? You'll do other things, like reply to emails or keep editing your slide collection, and you can convince yourself that it's productive, but actually, it is a form of laziness.
In conclusion, "Clear doubt":
The first and most important step is simply to take effective action. You can become effective in your life by making changes and critical decisions. Decisiveness eliminates doubt, and leadership is about taking a stand on how you want to look in your professional and personal life. When you take the initiative by preferring work to surrender to doubt, it will follow a tremendous change.
The fastest way to overcome uncertainty is to take immediate and decisive action. Often, all it takes is to write the first email, ask for help with a new project, or head to the gym. Establishing companies is like a journey, as life is; while you continue to live, you will go through new experiences and face obstacles you did not know before. You will only learn by getting some of the answers.
